Mischiff: The Man, the Musician, and the Veteran

Mischiff was 15 years old when he began his music career after coming across the late DJ AM works, which inspired him to become a DJ at the time. After months of practice and training, he was ready to showcase his talent, and he picked “DJ Mischiff” as his stage name. His stage name, Mischiff, was inspired by the nickname “Malito,” which in Spanish translates as a mischievous child.

Mischiff’s first opportunity to DJ came at a school dance while in middle school in Freeport, New York. After his first musical event, his career began to flourish, and thanks to his excellent skill set, he went into music production. For the next few years, he would go on to DJ at several clubhouses and events across the country while also pursuing a career as a Public Affairs specialist for the New York Army National Guard. While in service, his creativity took control after acquiring photography, videography, and journalism skills. During his time in the military, he learned time management, an essential skill needed when masterminding and navigating through a budding music career.

He is currently an independent artist who has learned to control his works, and because of this, he has presently full creative control of his image and music to bring authenticity to his work as no one has ever seen. Therefore, when you hear about Mischiff or listen to his music, you see him and not the result of any record label. Mischiff is on a mission to deliver the best quality music to his listeners with vibes that everyone can understand.

On what separates him from his competition, Mischiff said, “I can make different genres of music, for me, this is all fun, I’m going with the flow and experimenting new things. Maybe tomorrow I’ll make a country song or maybe a dancehall song, two genres that are out of my realm but doesn’t hurt to try and have fun. Also, what separates me from my competition is my attention to detail. I think I have a problem; I like to make sure everything is timely, organized, and perfect.”

As a veteran who served in the New York Army National Guard, many things like time management, being punctual, and giving everything 110% were some of the qualities he had to imbibe. “When I was younger, I would find myself doing activities rather than watching TV or playing video games; I have been trying to stay creative since I was a kid. I used to DJ, and then it turned into production and then finally me rapping and singing.” He said of his motivation to go into music.  In five years, Mischiff sees himself as a successful artist in one genre but in multiple music genres.

He would want readers to understand that being an artist can help you overcome emotional battles. For instance, the gym is a way to relieve stress, but making music can be a creative way and possibly lucrative way to get rid of stress.
