On the whole, it’s been another great year for marketers and businesses on social media. More growth, more reach, and even more exposure thanks to more people being at home saw 2020 usher in some of the most significant numbers for social media platforms and other online platforms in general.

With the unique atmosphere 2020 ushered in, it isn’t unusual to speculate what the year 2021 holds in stocks for regular users and businesses on social media, particularly on the Instagram platform.

Below we look at 5 of the most important tips every established, and prospective Instagram marketers must know for the year 2021.

1. Start On a Strong Foot

Starting a new page on a healthy foot is an essential step that may decide whether or not you last a long time on the platform. It’s hard to start a new account, and more often than not, this discourages many people who quit right in the beginning.

Building relationships, consistency, interaction, and quality content are some of the safest ways to start and get a new account up and running.

Some have also been known to use “grey” techniques such as following and liking posts to get noticed. The point of this is to get people to visit your profile by performing actions on their posts and hoping your content is compelling enough to get them to follow you.

Even those who buy real Instagram followers have been known to achieve considerable success from the boost, although, of course, you have to be careful and ensure these are real human followers.

2. Reposting

There is nothing wrong with reposting on Instagram! There is a general belief that any content is only suitable for the one-time post, but this actually couldn’t be further from the truth.

There is nothing wrong with reposting some of your old content that went viral and performed well, mainly because the Instagram algorithm usually favors the same type of posts for virality every time.

An elegant way to repost old content could be through having an end of the month recap where you repost your best performing posts for the month.

3. User Generated Content (UGC)

User-Generated Content is all the buzz now, and for good reasons too. They help show your audience that you value their effort and input, and they also help boost your account even further.

For those who aren’t familiar with user-generated content, this is content made voluntarily by your audience/followers about you and your brand, and they work magic.

You can get UGC from your audience naturally through being efficient or through giveaways, contests, or influencer marketing.

4. Hashtags Still Work

For years now, there have been numerous shouts about the deaths of hashtags on Instagram. This, though, can’t be farther from the truth. Not only are hashtags still alive and famous, but they are also as compelling as ever.

For new accounts without many followers, they can be your avenue towards getting discovered by a potential audience, and for established stores, they can help you reach even more people!

All you have to do is leave time to carry out proper hashtag research, select 10 – 15 of the best ones, and watch your posts expand in reach.

5. Giveaways and Contests

Last on our Instagram tips that every marketer should know in 2021 is contests and giveaways’ effectiveness.

These two tips played a massive part in helping many businesses grew in 2020, and we’re here to let you know that they’re going nowhere in 2021.

More and more people will use them to reach more people, get UGC, and get word of mouth advertising from followers. We can only advise that you get yourself and your business aboard this train if you aren’t already.
