The secret to having a fit-as-hell body relies on various aspects. Workout and nutrition are equally important to live a healthy life. “Eating is an essential part to survive but eating better encourages everyone to live a disease-free life”, quotes Ray Wetterlund III. The name goes synonymous with fitness who has brought a massive transformation in people’s lives through his unique workout plans. Based in San Diego, the celebrity fitness trainer is an entrepreneur, social media influencer and the founder of RW3 Talents, a model and influencer management company.

All his life, Ray has mastered himself with a variety of fitness workouts including CrossFit, circuit training, functional training and calisthenics. The fitness trainer has a degree in Kinesiology and he is a licensed and certified personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) and a sports nutritionist. Time and again, he has been making people aware of the need for fitness in the daily routine. Besides his award-winning 1000+ calorie-burning RW3 Boot Camps, Ray Wetterlund III has been imparting his knowledge about the dos and donts for every fitness enthusiast out there.

Below are the useful tips shared by the fitness expert:

1) Never skip your breakfast

While many people skip their morning meals, but Ray always suggests everyone to not skip breakfast at any cost. In his words, he says, “Break the fast. Eating your morning meal begins your metabolism for the day. If you skip the first meal of your day, your body’s metabolism rate will slow down.” Food is the energy, and just like a car cannot function without fuel; Ray suggests that people should not start working before having breakfast. To all the early morning workout fans, he says that a banana 30 minutes before exercise is a great way to start your day as it energizes the human body.

2) Walking and more walking

Walking is the universal and by far the simplest exercise anyone can do. Most of the beginners start with walking and jogging. “Walking costs nothing and requires no investment money-wise. All you need to give is your time”, says Ray. Begin by walking for 10 continuous minutes and do it thrice a day. He further revealed that the time should be increased with the adult walking at least 10,000 steps in a day.

3) Do more weight-training to gain muscle and lose fat

A common notion which many people have in their mind is that body fat is reduced because of cardio exercises. Cardio is good to boost heart health and burn calories. Running can help you build muscles, but only in the lower legs. it is the intense weight-training that plays the game in increasing muscle mass and losing body fat. “When hitting the gym floor, love the weights and give your best in every set of the exercise. Strength training creates a level of muscle damage which we recover through the in-take of protein after every workout”, he stated. Moreover, the damaged muscle increases metabolism rate after the exercise during the recovery and repair process. So, for Ray, strength training is better than the cardio exercises any day.

4) The abs are made in the kitchen

Every fitness enthusiast has one wish – to flaunt abs. While there are many exercises for abdominals, but the secret of having abs is in the kitchen. Yes, Ray says that more than the exercises’ the diet plays an integral role in building abs. “You just cannot have an unhealthy diet. Processed foods, sugar, carbs and saturated and trans fats will hamper you from getting the perfect abs”, reveals Ray. He further added that a person’s energy in the food he or she consumes should not exceed than the energy he or she burns on the gym floor.

5) The power of sleep and rest

Proper rest and sound sleep are very important in people’s life who follow a hardcore workout regime. Sleep gives the body time to recover and Ray emphasizes the need of rest so that the muscles get recovered during this time. After putting so much energy, sleep helps in conserving energy. “When we get adequate rest, the body produces growth hormone. Imagine if you workout every day of the week and not give rest to your body, the muscles won’t grow but shrink with time”, said the fitness expert.
