Joane$, please tell us something about yourself.

I am an underground melodic style artist who was born to Haitian and Dominican immigrants. I moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts when I was young.

What inspired you to dive into the music world?

Frankly speaking, I didn’t have any knowledge or intention about choosing the artist’s path. It was my bad past experiences, sufferings, and depression that made me choose it to get some relief. In order to get rid of my pain, I decided to create something and it led me to write songs as well as to record music.

What did you do before pursuing your career as a music artist?

Before diving into the music world, I used to work full-time as a manager at Olympia Sports. However, one day I got a call that many company branches including mine are shutting down. That was an awful period for me. After that, my savings account got drained and soon my girlfriend left me. Then, I saw music as a remedy to escape the depression I was going through.

Your debut album, “Pain, Sacrifice & Ambition” is Just out. What message does it convey to the audience?

I have released this album to help people overcome the depression and mental tension they are going through during the Covid-19 phase. It is filled with inspirational and motivational lyrics that are sufficient to inspire anyone to feel good.

How much time did you take to introduce it?

It took me 6 months to complete the album, “Pain, Sacrifice, & Ambition.”

Explain your thought process and mindset while writing an album.

I was heartbroken at the time of writing my album and you can judge it from my thick voice with yearning and aching. My lyrics in the new album are completely raw and honest. The first song “All In” on the album was recorded in one take on the mic.

The song “Missed Calls” takes listeners to a sunset drive on Miami beach. My motive while recording this album was to help people fight depression and feel relaxed.

Do you have any influences in the music industry?

Yes, I admire the work of the artists namely Trippie Redd, JayDaYoungan, Young Boy Never Broke Again, Lil Mosey, and Phora.

What the process of writing and recording a song means to you?

For me, writing and recording a song is a life-giving process as I feel relaxed while doing it. It makes me fight depression and feel happy. I think everyone struggling with depression must try writing as it offers great relaxation.
