Tanaka was born in and raised in Texas, USA but comes from Zimbabwean heritage. He is the first member of his family to receive education at Baylor University, where he’s currently on his way to get his diploma for a double major. Tanaka has his eyes set on earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts with a minor in Entrepreneurship. He is a model student, a regular on the Dean’s List, and has received two awards and counting. Tanaka is the recipient of the 2019 Baylor University Academy for Leadership Development: Social Identity Award, and the 2019 Baylor University Student Government: Student Involvement/Active Engagement Award.

Tanaka is also a keynote speaker who draws inspirational messages from his unique background and experiences. The book is an earnest compilation of themed poetry with about loss, frustration, romance, and victory. Tanaka says that he has written the book for every person.
