The future of the Japanese car brand Toyota seems to be very exciting. Toyota has plans to amend its image and consumer perception. The company is on a path to deliver the best in terms of performance vehicles in the near future. Though vehicles like the GR Super Sport, Corolla GR Sport, and GR Supra GT4 Concept are already very promising and the customers are indeed satisfied with the end product. Well you can see a lot more coming from the Toyota in the next few years.
In his interview with Automotive News Mr. Matthew Harrison, the sales and marketing boss for Toyota Europe confirmed that the manufacturer is intending to work on a performance version for each of its core models. They look forward to introduce the GR treatment in some of the hybrid models of the brand. People will soon find that at their nearby Toyota dealership.
“We are working towards building more of an obvious link to the GR brand and are establishing for each of our core models a GR Sport derivative. Some of their hybrid models will be found having a GR grade.” said Harrison to the publication.
To make it more merrier, Mr. Shigeki Tomoyama, the Gazoo Racing president of Toyota, was heard announcing that the team is working on a project to have a performance version of the Hilux truck. If this assignment gets the nod then it will be inspired by Toyota’s Dakar-winning pickup. This invention will become a first of its kind for the compact truck.
Toyota intends to have three levels of performance vehicles across all their markets. Toyota will enter into the performance space with the sporty GR models that has visual tweaks and no matching power. It would be something similar to that of Volkswagen’s R-Line and Ford’s ST-Line. The brands full-blown GR cars will offer “a noticeable performance increase.” Yaris GMRN and Corolla GRMN will be the first ones to arrive from the lot of GRMN-branded models.
