It has been a year since the Corona Virus pandemic has plagued the countries of our planet. With economies and healthcare systems collapsing under pressure, we unite under the hope of a vaccine.

After a long wait, the first coronavirus vaccines arrived in the United States on Monday 14th of December 2020. The vaccine was immediately administered to the state of New York, which was one of the most affected states in the USA.

Who Got the Vaccine First?

It only fitted to start with a health care professional. A nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical center was the first American to receive a vaccine shot outside of clinical trials.

Rony Jabour, a Brazilian who initiated the first covid-19 protection course in the US, commented on the situation, stating that it was a sign of hope amongst the chaos. The US is one of the hardest-hit countries in the world, with 16 million affected and a death toll of 300,000.

Jabour stated, “It is a source of great joy to see the arrival of the vaccine, and that undoubtedly renews the hope of billions of people around the world, where most of them suffered or had some of their loved ones suffering because of this disease”

He also commented on how the vaccination process will be a gradual one. The hope is to vaccinate everyone before the end of 2021. However, the availability and willingness of citizens are also essential factors in the timeline.

Prevention Is Key: The Covid-19 – Prevention, Control, And Health Security Course

Rony Jabour is currently a Master of Health and Safety through the University of Texas, and is the driving force behind the course Covid-19 – Prevention, control and sanitation.

His years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety and certifications by the World Health Organization (WHO) make him the perfect fit to run this prevention intervention in the US.

It has saved countless lives and prevented the spread of the virus in the US. He currently resides in the US where he works on United Safety Net, the first school in the country to offer training in this segment in Portuguese, English, and Spanish

Rony Jabour was also invited to Harvard University as well The U.S Department of Labor to speak on things like workplace safety and training resources.

These training are making efforts to curve the spread of the virus and keep employment afloat. He is one of the most notable OSHA trainers in the country and continues to dedicate himself to the cause.

His work was recently recognized with the ‘Rising Stars of Safety’ award by the US national security council. He also used it as an opportunity to open conversations about immigrant workers, teaching and advising on risk and compliance awareness.
