Evette Staffing Is Redefining Relief Work for Veterinarians and Clinics Nationwide

In 2016, Elise Burns and her mother launched a project they initially viewed as temporary. Their goal was to fulfill the requirements of their non-compete agreement before transitioning back into the familiar territory of human healthcare staffing. However, as they became more involved in the veterinary field, it revealed something far more urgent than they’d anticipated.

What they found was a profession under pressure. Veterinarians were working long hours, managing emotional fatigue, and often doing so without the kind of systemic support that promotes longevity or joy in a career. When the time came to return to her original path, Burns made the deliberate choice not to.

That decision marked the beginning of what would become Evette Staffing, a company built around a mission to give veterinary professionals more flexibility, financial stability, and control over their careers. What started as a short-term solution turned into a long-term calling, changing not just how staffing was done, but why.

A Name Change Marks a New Chapter

Several years after the company’s founding, a strategic planning session sparked a defining moment. Someone in the room asked, “What happens when you’re on the map and a company like Walmart wants to use your name? Are you prepared to take them on—and win?” The question made the team realize just how far they’d come—and how much further they could go.

In January 2024, after eight years of steady growth, Evette Staffing went through a complete rebranding process. In what Burns describes as growing up overnight, the business took a new name, refreshed their colors, updated their logo, and redesigned their website.

The rebrand gave the company a cleaner, more professional look. It also showed how far they’d come and reflected their growing influence across the country—highlighting their commitment to staying true to their values while remaining flexible. That growth was driven by honesty, transparency, integrity, and a team-first mindset. With those values at the core, the team continued earning the confidence of both veterinary professionals and clinic partners alike.

A Smarter Way to Staff Relief Veterinarians

Relief work is often seen as a short-term fix. Many clinics rely on it to fill gaps, but for the veterinarians actually doing the work, it can mean trading long-term security for short bursts of freedom. Evette Staffing challenged that idea from the start.

By offering a concierge placement service and a guaranteed salary program, the company gives veterinarians both flexibility and peace of mind. They’re not left wondering when or where they’ll work next. Instead, they have predictable income, options to choose their schedule, and placements that actually align with their professional goals.

On the clinical side, Evette Staffing partners with a range of reputable practices nationwide, working to make sure both sides of the staffing relationship benefit. As of 2025, the business is serving clinics in 49 out of 50 U.S. states, a reach that reflects both growth and consistent follow-through.

Rather than slotting people into open shifts, the organization matches veterinarians with clinics that support their values and strengths. It’s a more intentional way to connect talent with opportunity—and it’s helped hundreds of professionals find a rhythm that works.

Growth Without Compromise

Back in 2016, the company began with just three internal team members. Since then, it has steadily grown to include more than 60 staff, each added with care to enhance systems, increase support, and protect the mission at the heart of the work. A turning point came in 2022, when Evette Staffing brought on its first senior leadership team. That move led to a stronger internal structure, defined roles more clearly, and set the stage for thoughtful, long-term progress.

Shortly after, they celebrated the hiring of its 250th veterinarian. That number represents more than headcount, but the company’s ability to attract and retain professionals in a field where burnout is common and turnover is high.

However, the environment has changed as well. Over the past decade, large corporate clinics have expanded rapidly. With aggressive sign-on bonuses and commission offers, these organizations often lure veterinarians into contracts that are difficult to escape. The pressure has made it even harder for smaller, independent clinics to compete.

Evette Staffing saw the toll this was taking on the profession. For every vet they helped recover from stress or overwork, more were being pulled into environments with unrealistic expectations. Instead of working against corporate players, Evette Staffing chose to partner with them under clear agreements. These partnerships allow corporate clinics to book the company’s veterinarians, but only under conditions that ensure workload balance and personal well-being.

It’s a model that gives veterinarians in long-term contracts a chance to regain control over their time and helps protect them from the kinds of demands that lead to burnout in the first place.

A Goal to Help the Helpers Recharge

Inside the company, the team shares the same drive they see in the veterinarians they serve. Burns describes her staff as high achievers, do-gooders, and goal chasers. They’re people who love to work hard and aim high. While highly beneficial traits, that kind of energy can also come with the risk of forgetting to take time to rest.

Evette Staffing doesn’t leave that to chance. One of the company’s most valuable benefits is its Tier Reward Trips program. Unlike usual paid time off, these trips are booked and paid for by the company. Employees get to pick the destination, the dates, and who they want to travel with—and the agency handles everything else. The goal is to remove the mental load that comes with planning time away.

These trips give staff a real chance to unwind, reflect, and return recharged. Out of all the benefits offered by the company, only one ranks higher, which is the 401(k) with employer matching.

Together, these two programs speak to something larger. Evette Staffing believes that people do their best work when rest and choices aren’t an option, but built into the culture and actively encouraged by leadership.

Built to Give Back and Move the Industry Forward

Evette Staffing is a female-founded company operating in a field long shaped by masculine leadership. That background informs how the business works, and who it welcomes. Whether someone is starting over, seeking a better fit, or just looking for a place where they can be themselves, the company makes room.

That inclusive mindset shows up in small but meaningful ways. At Evette Staffing, it doesn’t matter what someone looks like, what they wear, or how they express themselves or think. What matters is how they care for others. The company places value on empathy, comfort, and presence instead—qualities that animals instinctively respond to, and that the team sees as essential in the people they hire.

The same values that shape Evette Staffing’s culture also guide its giving. Every quarter, the company sets aside funding to support veterinarians and animals in need across the country. That includes providing aid to clinics recovering from natural disasters, donating essentials like food and medical supplies, and contributing to trusted nonprofits recommended by members of their own veterinary network. Whether it’s sending money or resources, Evette Staffing is committed to showing up when it matters most.

When it comes to defining success, they don’t look at profit margins alone, but people. What counts is the veterinarian who’s sleeping better, working more practical hours, or smiling more often. Every vet that finds their footing again helps make the profession stronger for everyone. Evette Staffing’s impact isn’t measured by how fast they grow, but by how many lives they help rebuild—one veterinarian at a time.
