5 Tips for Getting Through Tax Season

While it only takes a few hours (or days at most), tax season goes from January all the way through the middle of April. We spend weeks of time stressing, and potentially procrastinating, while thinking about how and when to file.

But why, at the end of the day, does the concept of filing our taxes feel, well, taxing? Here are some reasons:

Inside the Shift That Challenged Biologics Manufacturing Norms

  1. Tax season triggers financial insecurity for some, despite the possibility of actually getting a financial refund.
  2. Doing taxes can bring up political issues and debates, dependent on tax brackets, which can carry over into unpleasant conversations.
  3. We need to schedule a time to do our taxes, whether that’s with a professional accountant, family member, or online tax filing system.
  4. If we’re given a tax refund, we actually stress over what to do with it. Do we put it into our savings? Do we spend it?
  5. Owing money during tax season can bring us down for weeks if we haven’t prepared for it, and the number is never what you expect, for better or worse.
  6. For people who procrastinate doing taxes, it’s not easy to hear others who got it done first. It’s built on top of the procrastination stress

No matter where you land on the financial spectrum of tax season, the stressors of it all can weigh heavy. Fortunately, there are a few ways to help you get through tax season; waiting until April 19th to feel better about yourself and your bank account isn’t wise for any of us. Continue reading for our five tips for getting through tax season.

Learn About the Best Bank Account for You

First, let’s tackle the nitty gritty of tax season. Bank accounts. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, or business owner, or work for another company, it’s a good idea to learn the best bank account for you and your financial security. Fortunately, StackCommerce rounds up the best business bank accounts for your needs.

When you discover the best bank account for you, it will help to manage your finances, and potentially even help you earn money (or save, at the very least). Some bank accounts have lower interest rates and no annual fees, and many can help you earn money on top of the money you have with them. When you bank smarter, the stress of tax season suddenly feels less overwhelming.

Get Comfortable

There are two mentalities for getting through tax season: do your taxes the way you’d do business, as in a proper suit or outfit. The other is to do your taxes in an outfit that’s comfortable for you. If you want something in the middle, you can get semi-dressed up with a women’s tunic from Johnny Was.

The reason why you should dress in a way that’s most comfortable for you, in whatever form that may be, is because it will help you relax and get the job done. Since choosing an outfit is already part of your day-to-day, plan ahead for what makes you feel best as you tackle your taxes this season. No matter if it’s pajamas, a suit, or something comfortable in between, you’ll get through it better.

Take Care of Your Posture

Posture has a tremendous influence on your productivity, so when it comes to tax season, having a bad back or slouched shoulders can make the whole process feel a lot more daunting. Instead, focus on how you sit and stand throughout the days ahead; this will improve not only your back but any pain associated with it.

If you’re already in a bad position (literally), try wearing a back brace as you work, like Incrediwear’s healing back brace. When you plan ahead, you can target aches and pains before they become worse. A back brace, neck pillow, and some heating or cooling gels or pads can go a long way in getting through tax season.

Care for Your Skin

When we’re stressed, it immediately shows on our skin; that’s why when our face gets oily, we can break out, and, in general, the hormones released during stressful periods can pop up anywhere. During tax season, those long hours and weeks can wreak havoc on your skin, so it’s important to take good care of it.

There are a few ways to do this. First, be sure to massage your face daily—the same way you’d get a body massage, but for your face. This circulates the blood flow and helps your skin tone look even. Second, wash every morning and night to avoid any dryness or build-up of oils, depending on your skin type. Lastly, try introducing vegan collagen into your routine. Brands like Pacifica Beauty have a wider range of products available will offer a boost of dewy hydration to your skin.

Have a Health Check

Between the backaches, stress, skin issues, and financial stressors, another way to ensure you get through tax season smoothly is to have your health checked out. Luckily, companies like The I.V. Doc bring IV therapy to your home, so you can do it on your own terms. Once you learn more about your health and replenish it with the nutrients it needs, you can feel confident getting through the rest of tax season. If you want to take it a step further, you can even try a PUR quick and efficient juice cleanse.

Conclusion

These five tips will get you through tax season financially, emotionally, and physically with the utmost confidence. When tax season wears you down, turn back to our guide to get your life back on track again. Which tip will you try out first?
