Game Designing

Game designing is for the people who come up with concepts and ideas about any particular new game. These ideas tend to include the genre of the game, the entire storyline and lore development, the characters that would be involved, the environment and conditions of where the game is taking place, the mechanics or rules of the game, etc. It is the very first process that has to be taken care of if one wants to make a game. Game designing needs a person to be creative in approach. Game designing is mainly done in teams with a head designer who works with several junior designers. They come up with all the ideas and concepts that might make a game attractive and thus, successful. To become a game designer the most important skill is to understand what makes a game good or bad and constantly talking about them. The more creative instinct a person has the more refined game designer he can become.

Game Development

Video game development is different from designing. The development process is when the ideas and concepts decided by the designer are brought to life through coding. This is why it is said that game designers are the real creators of a video game. During game development, a team of engineers or programmers build the version of the game through rigorous programming code that we see while we play. This doesn’t happen on the first try though. It is an iterative process where the code is revised and run multiple times to achieve the game that corresponds with the game’s final look and feels. Developing is often used as an umbrella term, used to denote the whole process of production. Along with the programming part, the audio and artistic parts of the game can also be included in the term.

Game designers and developers and dependent on each other and they are the two most important elements in the production of every game.
