While most people strive towards a steady 9-5, that wasn’t Kelly Cooper’s destiny.  After a decade of working with the US Air Force, Cooper couldn’t kick the creative urge inside her.  In 2017 her intuition could no longer be silenced and she decided to found her online children’s boutique, Tomato Superstar.

As a Mother of two in a world full of social pressure and fast fashion, Kelly struggled to find affordable, attractive clothing for her kids. She also noticed the negative messaging constantly targeting young women and felt that something was inherently wrong with the children’s fashion industry.  Motivated to make a difference, Kelly chose to fill the gap with her own designs, and with the help of her daughter, the name Tomato Superstar was born.  The brand is more than just a clothing line however, the story is rooted in a mission to empower young girls to embrace their most authentic selves.

Tomato Superstar has cultivated a large, loyal following of over 36k on Instagram of parents and children alike who all love to engage with their uplifting messaging. The digital clothing boutique spreads body positive information to young girls and teens by constantly reinforcing their unique and beautiful individuality.  In addition to such a great brand story, Kelly takes it a step further by donating a portion of all sales to non-profit organizations that target human trafficking. Kelly’s success in filling a market gap and integrating it with positive social change truly sets Tomato Superstar apart.

While it’s clear Kelly has found her purpose, it wasn’t an easy road to success. She experienced challenges along the way as all entrepreneurs do, including those who questioned her entry into fashion since she had no professional experience in the industry. This leap resulted in many failures but Kelly believes in failing forward, and she turned every setback into a learning experience.  It’s actually something she loves about entrepreneurship, the growth and evolution that comes with it.

Kelly finally created the life she once only dreamed of.  She gets to work alongside her favorite co-workers and her family, and is able to celebrate wins every step of the way with them. She is a role model not only to her family but to the many women and children that her brand touches. You can support Kelly and shop boho chic clothing, inspirational stickers, and even facemasks for the young women in your life at www.tomatosuperstar.com.
