Entrepreneur and professional landscaper Mario Reyes has created a platform to solve a decades-long problem in the contracting trade.

His project, ‘Property Reputation,’ is an app designed for contractors. In his 16 years as the owner of a landscaping company, Mario has had the recurring problem of non-payment for services rendered. He launched Property Reputation as a platform for contractors to finally have their own voice.

Mario started his landscaping company in 2004; he has had 16 years’ worth of clients, services, and negotiations as a contractor. In his career, he has run into the same problem countless times and noticed that other companies were facing the same struggles.

After speaking to other contractors, he had an idea. He realized that the community needed a platform where all contractors could speak out about their experiences with the properties that they had worked for. So with his daughter, Lydia Reyes-Hernandez, who was recognized by the United States Marine Corps in 2013 for her exceptional performance therein, Mario launched Property Reputation.

Emerging as a reputable family-owned business, Property Reputation allows any contractors to see information about a property in real-time. The platform allows them to rate and review the experience that their company had with any property. The app allows them to know the reputation of the property before they can provide their service. As a result, contractors can find out whether the property to be serviced is reliable or not.

The purpose of the app is to build a strong relationship between business owners in the contracting trade. Moreover, the platform allows contractors to see what other professionals in the trade say about their previous experiences with the property.

The app is made for both company contractors like Mario’s and independent contractors in the fields of landscaping, roofing, plumbing, construction, painting, HVAC, masonry, interior design, cleaning services, etc.

The app is one of a kind in its industry. When property owners and other clients are offended, they can easily go on Yelp or the Better Business Bureau and leave a complaint, tarnishing the company’s reputation forever. But businesses in the contracting trade don’t have the same backing. Property Reputation effectively eliminates the anxiety caused by wondering whether a particular job site will pay on time or at all.

The app is even more relevant amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In the recession of 2008, Mario saw many companies close their businesses for good. Hardworking business owners do not deserve to go through the same pain once again. With the threat of the pandemic to businesses, he felt a sense of urgency and obligation to create something for the community.

With the app in place, more and more contractors can be brought together to share their experiences. The app allows them to provide their services with greater confidence, knowing that the property that they are servicing has been good to other businesses in the industry.

Mario aims to help as many businesses as possible with his app. He wants to send the message to his fellow contractors that they are not alone in their struggles. With the community brought together, he knows it will be easier for new entrepreneurs to break into the industry to build their business with the guidance of the industry veterans in the app.
