The most common symptoms of the dreaded Covid-19 virus include coughing and difficulty to breathe. Many other symptoms are also linked to the virus, but few are as controversial as the rash that was named ‘Covid Toes’.

The appearance of ‘Covid Toes’ probably had many people running to the nearest dermatologist in Florida, Paris, London or wherever they were.

These red rashes or sores were found on the hands and feet of children and young adults alike.

For a while, you couldn’t hear about the virus without this symptom being mentioned. But it seemed that people weren’t convinced that there really is a link to the Coronavirus.

Many people even thought it was rubbish and fake news. A report by WebMD claiming there was no link didn’t help.

But, if you spoke to an experienced dermatologist in Florida, you’d know that the claims were not fake.

That dermatologist would tell you that you had to keep an eye on your toes and hands.

British Journal of Dermatology Publish Findings

A study that was published by the British Journal of Dermatology indicates that ‘Covid Toes’ are indeed symptoms that are caused by Covid-19.

The journal provided evidence to back up the claims. In the majority of cases, those affected with the symptoms did test negative for the virus.

However, that was only because the testing was done through throat swabs and the measuring of circulating antibodies.

According to the journal, the SARS-CoV-2 virus was found to be present in the skin biopsies done on children who were suffering from ‘Covid Toes’. This is despite the negative results that were found by traditional tests.

Analyses found that the virus was present in the skin’s blood vessel endothelial cells. Also, it was found in the sweat glands. Particles have even been found in endothelial cells, thanks to a biopsy.

The researchers support a link between Covid-19 and ‘Covid Toes’. They think the rash could be caused by endothelial damage caused by the virus.

Florida Covid-19 Cases Increase Rapidly

Meanwhile, the rate of positive test results for the Coronavirus has reached a new high in Florida.

The state’s Health Department announced a whopping 7, 347 new cases on 7 July. This means there are now 213, 794 active cases.

Any and every good dermatologist in Florida is likely to be overwhelmed with visits from parents concerned about ‘Covid Toes’. With such staggering numbers, it is hard to blame them.

Covid-19 Deaths In Florida

Currently, the number of deaths reported in the state has gone up with 63 to a total of 3, 841.

Richard Corcoran, Florida’s Education Commissioner, recently issued an emergency order that requires all the state’s schools to open in the fall.

The requirements to be met in the case of non-traditional remote teaching has also been laid out.

Florida’s surging virus numbers are concerning for everyone in the state and people are urged not to play with their health.

If you have symptoms, visit a Dermatologist like Orlando’s Dr. Witt to determine if you or your children could be infected.
