What it takes to be the ‘legendary black redneck’

Aspiring for socio-political change is a strenuous and lengthy process. It takes a lot of courage and sheer will. There are opposing forces in the society that enable persisting inequalities and injustice.

To fight this is hard. But for Joel Patrick, the legendary black redneck, fighting for a change in a diverse world is all in a day’s work. Being black in a country whose history has been cruel to the black race is extremely difficult. However, for Joel Patrick, being born in a specific race does not dictate what you can or cannot do.

Even as a child, Patrick envisioned himself becoming a voice who inspires and leads. Who would have thought that a 12-year old boy from Beavercreek, Ohio was able to raise 15,000USD and give it to a local crisis pregnancy resource center? That was only the start.

Growing up, Patrick was growing ever-vexed about many social issues such as abortion, capitalism, persecution, and censorship of Christians in the media. The overwhelming problems have kindled his burning desire to let his voice be heard in the community – without fear or violent intention.

Patrick would go to different colleges across the State to talk to young minds like him, in the prospect of mutual understanding and peaceful resolve. He would debate and engage in healthy conversations with students to hone their minds. As an activist, he desires a peaceful transition towards change.

For instance, the current dilemma of the #BlackLivesMatter movement – an international cause that condones blatant injustice against African-American communities – is the use of violence. On Twitter, Patrick pronounced his disagreement with the riots staged by pro-forces, saying it does not end the discrimination but only reinforces it. Hate will not be eradicated should these physical encounters continue. Many from both parties have been needlessly put at risk because of the violent clashes.

The resolve is neither hastily nor easily given. In different issues that Patrick has partaken, it is his strong belief that everyone who is involved should be heard. This is his brand of service – to educate and inspire Americans ‘on both sides of the aisle’.

Many admire Patrick’s drive for change. In his social media sites, Patrick cumulated over 500 million views for his video content. He creates short educational videos for his online audiences. That way, his message would be relayed faster and wider.

His influence does not just stop at the new media. He has also appeared in several local and national television news networks like Fox News Special Report, The White House Brief, BlazeTV, Glen Beck Radio Show, ABC Nightline, and many more.

Similarly, Patrick’s membership in the society is astounding. He became an inaugural member of the Rising Stars of the Republican Party and Black Voices for Trump. While real victory is not yet achieved, Patrick will continue to fight for his beliefs. He will stand guard of the injustice committed against people who cannot defend themselves.

We live in tumultuous times, but there are people, like the legendary black redneck, who shines and gives people a clear vision of a positive change for all.
