Kobey Castillo, better known now by the stage name Schleepyk, grew up in the sunshine of southern California. Born in Whittier, California and lived there until his family moved to the Inland Empire just before he reached high school. The vibes of Los Angeles hip hop and rap are like none other and for Kobey, it only enhanced his love for music. Kobey always had a passion for music but it wasn’t until 14 that he decided to take it seriously.

“I was 14 going into my freshman year. I started to experiment with producing and audio engineering on fl studio, since then I’ve never stopped,” said Kobey. This in fact was the beginning to Schleepyk as we know it today. Throughout high school, more and more people enjoyed his music and encouraged him to continue to make music.

Being the self-taught independent artist that Schleepyk is, it makes for a tremendous grind. Kobey said, “Being independent is just a lot of work, especially because I prefer to produce all my own beats and engineer all my sounds myself.” Being able to “do it all” has given Schleepyk an upper hand in creating music that is unique and that his listeners can enjoy.

Schleepyk has big plans for 2020 including multiple releases. He has a 10 song project ready to be released, and numerous other songs in the works. Be on the lookout for Schleepyk’s new single “Spending a lot” set to release on May 1st.
