How Artist Tess Posner Is Going Against The Grain

One of the most fought over issues in today’s society is women’s rights and women’s equality. With priorities set on winning economic equality and securing it with an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the battle is relentless. The issue lies in guaranteeing equal rights for women specifically in matters of sexual violence, abortion rights, and reproductive freedom among other areas. Often, at the forefront of the fight you’ll find public figures and musicians voicing their opinion.

One artist who has recently come on the scene is Tess Posner. The California based singer made her way into the industry by releasing an EP in December of 2018 after deciding to pick up her childhood love for music. A decision that would take her on an unexpected journey.

One of the biggest motives for Tess has been finding a new platform for self-expression and authenticity. She’s able to do that through her music. In her short time as an artist, Tess has racked up hundreds of thousands of streams across all platforms, often pointing to her work as an activist and entrepreneur as a huge reason for her success. When we asked about her journey she said, “Throughout this journey, I’ve had to grow as a person and re-define who I am. It’s also hard to be a younger woman with a soft voice but big vision. It’s challenging for women to be allowed to be powerful and we get questioned or are hated or have to work harder to get our voices heard. It’s been a real journey to learn to break out of that box that society tries to contain me in and trust my voice. Music has helped me with this tremendously.”

With plans to announce new music and shows coming in 2020, don’t expect the rising star to slow down any time soon.
