Reliability of the engine and cabin comfort are the two main things when you go on a trip with your family. Minivans were perfect for such adventures in the past, but now there are 7-seater SUVs. Versatile vehicles are offering an all-around package – with powerful engines, a lot of room inside the cabin for passengers and cargo, and finally, the advanced safety systems. If you want to check out which are the best big SUVs you can find in the market, the 7-SEATER SUVS is the best place to compare the capabilities of the most popular vehicles in this segment.

A three-row layout gives you an advantage over the classic 2-row models. First, there are extra seats for more passengers. If you don’t need them, then just fold the rear bench and turn the back of the vehicle into a storage area. Most of the SUVs are offering declining middle seats, so you can make more space for passengers. Furthermore, premium editions can come with captain’s chairs in the middle row, cutting the seating capacity to six. Also, there are models with eight or nine seats.

Size Matters, Always

There are a few types of SUVs with seven seats. The three-row configuration is usually available with mid- and full-size models. Still, some compact vehicles are also jumping in. The difference is in space. The third row for smaller mid-size SUVs is cramped. But, it is still an option, right?

Big rigs come with more room, but the higher price and increased fuel consumption. Also, where there is room, we can find eight or nine seats. That is an advantage of full-size SUVs.

Standard or Premium Equipment

Like other segments, the 7-seat SUV class also offers standard and luxury classes. The first one is cheaper, but also offers less of everything. Everything is on a higher level with premium carmakers. Leather upholstery, advanced safety and infotainment features, special exterior upgrades… Long trips can be more comfortable with the rear-seat entertaining system with premium audio that can turn your SUV into the theatre.

Drivetrains Can Save You a Lot of Money

If you think big SUVs need massive displacements, you are wrong. There are some of these available with four-cylinder units. Still, these are rare species, while the more usual offers are with V6 or V8 drivetrains. Now, there are more and more hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems available. For a long time, Toyota Highlander was the only mid-size three-row model with a hybrid engine. Now, there are also Acura MDX, Volvo XC90, Ford Explorer…

Which is the Best 7-Seat SUV?

With all the available options, it is hard to say. For example, CarConnection ranks Audi Q7 at #1 as a lot cheaper version of the Bentley Bentayga. Still, this is a hard choice, since not too many buyers are ready to splash $67,000 for the base version of the three-row SUV. The least expensive options cost under $30,000. Some of the models we can find here in the base variant are Kia Sorento, Mitsubishi Outlander, or VW Tiguan. On the other end are the high-luxurious versions with a six-digit price – Mercedes GLS, Land Rover Range Rover, BMW X7.
