AT-LP5x was recently launched in a big way by Audio-Technica at IFA 2019. AT- LP5x is an audiophile turntable that has classic looks with some very modern features. It seems Vinyl is very popular with the younger generation, and that’s exactly the generation that Audio-Technica is aiming at with their AT-LP5x model. Everything you want to know about turntables can easily be read on the turntable guide available on the internet. The company claims it to be a “perfect introductory turntable for demanding listeners”.

The new AT-LP5x guarantees to be an affordable direct-drive turntable that would deliver an audio performance way beyond its price point. You will also notice some digital flourishes in it. It is a direct successor to the company’s popular AT-LP5 turntable. This new model has AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet stereo cartridge as well as the next-generation model of Audio-Technica’s legendary AT95E.

This AT-LP5x is very much a 21st-century turntable with a USB output. The users can digitize their vinyl collections for playing on a smartphone, digital music player, or even old-school writable CDs.

AT-LP5x has a low-noise, quartz-locked DC servo, direct-drive motor. All this will enable one to play records at speeds of 33, 45 and 78 RPM. However if one intends to play the old 78s then an upgrade to the AT-VM95SP stylus is required. This is sold separately and not included in the deal.

The AT-LP5x comes in a sleek matt-black finish and weighs only 7.3 kg (16.1 lbs.). The accessories includes: a AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet stereo cartridge with replaceable stylus, AT-HS6 lightweight headshell, power adapter, dual RCA stereo cable, 45 RPM adapter; USB cable and a dust cover with mounting hardware.

The piece is priced at £349 / $349 / €399.
