Background and Beginnings

What inspired you to specialize in fathers’ rights and family law?

I was inspired to specialize in fathers’ rights due to the glaring gap I saw in the legal system where fathers often felt marginalized. When I started The Jackman Law Firm, it was with the goal of ensuring fathers had a voice and their rights were upheld. Many fathers face uphill battles for custody and fair treatment, and providing them with robust representation felt like a meaningful way to make a difference.

How did you get started with The Jackman Law Firm?

The journey began with a small office in Seattle. I had a vision to help fathers during challenging times, and gradually, through determination and building a team that shared this vision, we expanded to serve more states. It’s been a journey of growth and learning, particularly about the nuances of running a business in addition to practicing law.

Professional Strengths and Strategies

What is your key strength at work, and how do you leverage it to achieve success?

I believe my key strength lies in my ability to work collaboratively with people and empower them to lead. By placing individuals in leadership roles and trusting them, we cultivate a culture of accountability and growth. This empowerment is crucial as it enables us to have lasting momentum and excellence in our industry.

How do you handle complaints, criticism, and feedback to improve your professional growth?

Handling criticism is never easy, but I’ve learned that it is essential for growth. Initially, I struggled with defensiveness, but over time, I’ve come to embrace feedback as a learning tool. It’s about understanding that the customer is often right, and their complaints can be constructive for personal and professional development.

Goal Setting and Achievements

How do you plan and set goals to ensure continued growth and success in your career or business?

Goal setting is crucial, and I approach it systematically by creating 10-year, 5-year, 3-year, 1-year, and quarterly goals. I find that tying goals to specific timelines enhances the likelihood of achieving them. Reviewing these goals daily keeps me aligned with my objectives, and writing them down is a practice I believe firmly in.

What single project or task would you consider your most significant career accomplishment?

The most significant accomplishment has been building a dedicated team. Growing from a solo practice to a firm with multiple employees has been a project in itself, requiring careful hiring and managing diverse responsibilities. Despite challenges, it’s rewarding to see us on a path of successful growth.

Industry Insights and Advice

What advice would you give to someone seeking a career in your industry?

The foremost advice I would offer is to genuinely care about helping people. The legal profession, especially in family law, revolves around client service. Understanding that the client is at the heart of everything you do is crucial. It’s about having the passion and compassion to make a positive impact.

Where do you see the legal industry heading in the next 5 to 10 years?

The legal industry is on the cusp of transformation, particularly with the advent of AI. While technology will undoubtedly change certain aspects, the human element of the profession—being a counselor in the truest sense—will remain invaluable. It’s about balancing technological advancements with personal client interaction.

Jackman’s journey illustrates the blend of strategic growth and compassionate advocacy that defines his approach to law. As he continues to expand his firm’s reach, his commitment to empowering fathers remains at the forefront of his mission.

Expertise and Achievements

How do you stay informed about changes in your industry to ensure your brand remains relevant?

Staying informed and relevant in today’s fast-paced world requires continuous learning. I attend industry conferences and read extensively. Lately, I’ve added podcasts and YouTube videos to my repertoire, drawing inspiration and advice from others who are influential in their fields. These resources help me maintain a dynamic brand strategy. I also explore insights from unrelated industries, like health and fitness, which offer valuable lessons in maintaining a vibrant brand.

What strategies do you implement to build and maintain trust with your clients?

Trust is the bedrock of my relationships with clients. My approach is rooted in complete honesty—what I call “brutal honesty.” I never sugarcoat the truth. By being upfront about my experience and sharing insights with sincerity, I foster trust. My clients appreciate this transparency, which strengthens our relationship and ensures they feel supported and understood.

What steps do you take to protect your professional reputation from potential risks?

Throughout my career, I’ve built a reputation by prioritizing the quality of service we provide. This dedication to excellence ensures that our brand speaks for itself. We’ve helped countless fathers gain custody rights and navigate divorce proceedings. Our reputation precedes us in these areas, and I consider it robust enough that I no longer need to be overly concerned about perception.

Vision for the Future

What are some of the biggest challenges facing your business today?

The principal challenge is finding team members who can empathize with clients. In our industry, people skills are crucial. Our team must communicate effectively and relate to clients on both professional and personal levels. Achieving this balance is challenging but essential. This personable approach, coupled with professional advice, is what I call a “good bedside manner”.

Where do you see your industry in the next 5 to 10 years?

The future holds much change, particularly with AI reshaping many industries, including ours. While AI will undoubtedly influence certain aspects, I believe the human element of legal practice will remain crucial. Clients will continue to value having a human counselor to guide them through legal processes. The essence of our profession as true “counselors” will endure, despite technological advancements.

What trend do you find most exciting in your field?

AI’s integration into the legal profession excites me. Although it’s a new technology with kinks to iron out, like AI “hallucinating” inaccurate cases, I see potential for it to enhance how we serve our clients. I view AI as an evolving tool that, with time, will improve and add value to our industry.

Chris Jackman‘s insights highlight his commitment to excellence and adaptability in a changing legal landscape. His approach blends traditional values with modern innovation, ensuring his firm remains at the forefront of fathers’ rights advocacy. With a clear vision for the future, Jackman is poised to continue making a significant impact in the lives of his clients.
