Evan Seech: Winning the Day Trading Game Through Times of Crisis

Day trading the markets can be quite challenging, but the yields and returns can be astronomical for those who have mastered the game. Evan Seech is one of those traders who are making it big by trading the markets. Today, he’s also proving to the world that anyone can win in the market—even a 21-year-old college senior.

Evan is an upcoming graduate at the University of South Florida who’s finishing up a finance degree. He started trading the markets only three years ago, but in a short period, he has grown his wealth through trading strategies that have created consistent returns for him and his clientele.

The student trader’s interest in the stock market started at an early age. During the 2008 market crash, his grandparents lost $500,000. While a significant loss for many, Evan realized the opportunity for those who knew how to spot market trends. He came across the movie The Big Short, a story of a group of day traders that made billions of dollars off shorting the market during the real estate bubble of 2008. The thought of earning that much money from strategizing and trading intrigued him.

But the tipping point came for Evan in his last year of high school. When on a trip to Europe with some of his friends for spring break, he realized that being a day trader would allow him to travel as much as he could to different places while still earning a lot of money. He decided from that time that he would devote himself to becoming a day trader.

During his freshman year in college, he joined a community called IKNK Traders, which was founded by trading legend Cameron Fous. There he learned all that he could and started to put investments in the market. He started to see return after return from his trades. It was during his time at IKNK as well where he met Matthew Sentes, head moderator for the community of day traders. Later on, Evan and Matthew teamed up to form Center Cross Capital, a private investment firm that specialized in intraday equity trading (large, mid, and small caps), intraday options trading, and long term portfolio construction and active management.

In the first three months of operation, Center Cross Capital saw returns as high as 65 percent or higher on their trades. They use a series of high-frequency day trading strategies that aren’t popularly used by companies in the investment industry. Despite being an uncanny approach, it proved to be extremely high yielding for the team and its clients.

In times of volatility, such as the recent stock market crash caused by the coronavirus crisis, Evan and his colleagues shine best. They are flexible, quickly switching strategies overnight to deal with whatever the market provides them.

Today, Evan also works as one of the moderators at IKNK, teaching people who want to learn how to trade the markets themselves strategies that can get yields from both bullish and bearish markets. He also does consultancy for small businesses and influencers in the area of digital marketing.
