If you want to run a successful promotional marketing campaign in 2023, it’s essential that you understand each important factor surrounding your campaign. If you’ve never run a promo marketing campaign before, it can be hard to know where to start. For both experienced promo campaigners, and those who are diving into the strategy for the first time, here are five essential tips for running a successful promotional marketing campaign in 2023:

1. Invest in Products Customers Will Actually Use

If you try to promote your business with a gimmicky promo gift, or that will only be used once, your campaign is almost certain to fail. When people receive gifts they actually use and use frequently, they are much more likely to develop a strong opinion of your business, after all. Depending on the type of business you’re running, you’ll want to choose a gift that will provide value that’s connected to your industry in some way. For example, if you’re a fashion business, you can give out free branded drawstring backpacks, hats, t-shirts, and other fun wearable accessories/clothing. You want to demonstrate to your audience early on that you know what’s valuable to them, and that you’re dedicated to providing them with that value if they frequent your business.

2. Avoid Cheap and Poorly Made Promo Gifts

Alongside choosing an incredibly useful promo gift, you want to avoid investing in orders of cheap or poorly made promo gifts. Thankfully, there are tons of wonderful manufacturers out there that can give you massive bulk orders of high-quality promo merch on a budget that even new and small businesses can afford. If you’re able to, it’s important to order a sample of the product you’re considering using in your next promotional gift marketing campaign. Doing so allows you to perform a quality test, and determine if there are any possible ways to improve upon the product as well. The more time you spend finding quality gifts to send to your customers, the more loyalty you’ll inspire in them (which will translate into increased sales and customer retention rates down the line). This process will also help you find a way to order tons of promo gifts without blowing too much of your company’s marketing budget, allowing you to be more prepared for this recession-bound economy.

3. Encourage Social Media Posts to Boost Your Brand

Once you’ve determined how your gift will be sent out, it’s time to begin integrating your promotional gift campaign with other aspects of your marketing plans. Social media marketing is the key here, as you can expose your brands to hundreds of thousands of new faces if you’re able to get people to post about your brand online. Offer discounts for those who post their promo gift to their social media profiles, and you’ll see the online presence of your business skyrocket in no time. The more attractive you make your gift, the more likely it is that people will take the effort to seek this online discount. If you add links to your social media profiles on your gift, through a QR code or other method, you will increase the probability of people taking part in this discount offer even further.

4. Make Sure the Design of Your Gifts Fits Your Company’s Brand

When designing your gift, you need to make sure it will appeal aesthetically to the target audience you’re looking to impress. For fashion companies, for example, once again, you’ll need to ensure your gifts are in-style, and that they have enough flair to them to remain memorable. Many fashion companies use phone cases and wearable merch that promotes their unique style and aesthetic when running promotional gift campaigns for this reason. Don’t worry about taking your time during the design process, as making your company’s brand visible, and the overall look of your promo gift impressive is of utmost importance.

5. Be Sure to Have Fun and Get Creative with Your Campaign

Lastly, you must allow yourself to have fun with the campaign process. This is a chance to flex your creativity and boost the visibility of your brand in the public eye simultaneously, after all. As you brainstorm ideas and decide on what gift will best provide value to your target audience, you’ll feel a sense of pride in your accomplishments. Just make sure that you don’t take too long, as time is money, and you want to quickly sprint ahead of any competitor businesses in your area.

You’re Now Ready to Run a Successful Promotional Marketing Campaign

With these five tips in mind, you’re now fully ready to begin running a successful promotional gift marketing campaign for your business. Find the right budget, gift, and design choices, and you’ll have all the basic ingredients you need to get your campaign off the ground and running in early 2023.
