Google has launched a new phone but it does not make calls. It is just a piece of paper that is printed with pieces of information, folded into a rectangle. Google has named it Paper Phone that is able to take a selfie and can hold a credit card.
This phone is a part of Google’s new package of digital well-being experiments. According to the company, this phone will give users a digital detox. The Paper Phone is launched by Google in the same week of another latest phone launch which is of $800 and is built with radar technology. Users can control this phone with their hand motions.
Google’s Paper Phone is an attempt to attract the audience to the ever-expanding presence of tech in daily lives. The Paper Phone project of Google is one of the open-source experiments which has a phone wallpaper and calculates how many times a day a user unlocks their device.
According to Bubilgi.net, it also contains a desert island program that gives users access to only their most essential apps for 24 hours. Google is expecting that this phone will inspire developers and designers to keep digital well being at the top when building technology.
This is not the first attempt by Google to use paper products to explore the digital world. In 2014, Google had introduced Google Cardboard which is a way to view virtual reality applications on a smartphone. Google had shipped more than 5 million pairs of this product in 19 months.
