Mauro Libi: “The social commitment is the core strategy for the successful business”

  • An international and successful business based on oatmeal is the instrument to support local activities for helping low-income families and kids in countries such as the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Chile.
  • In the USA, Libi’s companies have sponsored local sports activities and supported some organizations to help low-income families.

Miami, July 2020. The businessman Mauro Libi is the CEO of Grupo Libi, a conglomerate of companies dedicated to the production, marketing, distribution, and storage of food from the American continent to anywhere in the world.  With this goal, oatmeal is a very important part of his business and the production and logistics structure that allows them to supply the food services and retail market, with high-quality oat products and by-products intended for human and animal consumption.

He began his business following his father’s jobs, an Italian immigrant who initiated with a little distribution float and direct sales in different sectors: electronics equipment and farm products, in which the family focused their effort since more than 50 years ago. The familiar business grew, creating companies based on the production and distribution of oatmeal, including the Avelina oatmeal brand. Inproceca, the Industry and Processing of Cereals, was the first company that Avelina was created with raw material from Chilean producers.

Thanks to the Inproceca growth and the need to maintain the quality of the raw material, Mr. Libi installed Inmolisa, a highly automated plant with 100% German technology, located in the city of Pillanlelbún, specifically in the commune of Lautaro, in the north of Temuco, Chile. This area is known as “Chile’s Granary” because 80% of the country’s grains and cereals are sown, harvested, and produced there. This plant has the HACCP certification, showing the control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production to guarantee the quality of the product.

In 2016, Food Group International, located in Doral, FL-USA, joined Libi’s Group as a new plant for processing and distributing oatmeal for food services and the Avelina brand. In this case, the business is focused on guaranteeing the best option for the customer, getting the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program and the FSSC 2200 certification, which is recognized as a rigorous food safety and quality program by retailers, brand owners, and food services customers worldwide.

In the USA, Mr. Libi’s business will increase during the next 6 months, with 5 new production lines for Avelina oatmeal to offer options adapted to American consumers. Avelina oatmeal is now in the most important points of sales for Florida and Texas states, and the company is working to open new markets in the USA, including California and New York states for the brand and raw material for private labels. From Food Group International, the products are also exported to the Caribbean Island and Asian countries as Avelina oatmeal or as a raw material in bulks.

The vision of Mauro Libi is based on a social commitment as a core strategy, which he embodies as a successful entrepreneur with a business that offers high-quality materials to different markets in America and more than 20 countries worldwide. The business creates employment and supports a healthy lifestyle, with sponsorships to sports activities such as the Miami Marathon in the USA and other local events, or through promoting new athletes who need help to move forward as sports professionals. Also, Libi’s companies are always finding options to help kids from low-income families, which shows their social responsibility. The “Casa Hogar al Fin” and “Mi Avena” Foundation in Venezuela, and many other organizations and churches in Miami, are just some examples of the Mr. Libi commitment with the society.
