Based on recent surveys, at least 85 percent of parents want to travel with their families in the near future. Of course, choosing where to go and what to do while they’re there can be difficult. That’s especially true for families with little ones and those whose children are separated by significant age gaps. In those cases, it’s not always easy to find destinations and family activities that appeal to everyone. Some family tour ideas can be wonderful opportunities for the entire family, though.

Visiting America’s Beaches

For American families that want to stay relatively local, touring the nation’s beaches may be a nice choice. A trip like this can take families from one coast to another, clear across the country. Beaches offer plenty of sand, sunshine, and warm weather as long as you go at the right times of the year.

They also have an array of water-based activities that are appropriate for different age groups. Dozens of other excursions are available as well. Families can enjoy a dolphin tour in Savannah, a carriage ride in Charleston, a sandcastle building class in Gulf Shores, and exploring the Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz to name a few possibilities.

Traversing Europe

Taking a tour through Europe is another option for a fantastic family vacation. Virtually any type of locale you could imagine would be at your family’s fingertips on a trip like this. Countless European cities are steeped in history, and they offer a variety of atmospheres and attractions for people to take in. From London, Paris, and Rome to Amsterdam, Vienna, and Heidelberg, the possibilities are endless.

Each of those cities and many others has its own range of family-friendly activities that are geared toward people of all ages. Theme parks, nature hikes, petting zoos, historical sites, and water-based activities are some of the attractions your family can enjoy. Whether you’re looking for an educational experience, an action-packed adventure, or a slow-paced getaway, you’ll find a variety of European vacation destinations that mesh with your plans.

Australia and New Zealand

Yet another possibility for families that want to venture beyond the borders of the United States is a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Both locales offer countless family-friendly sites and activities. The world-famous Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s City Circle Tram, Jewel Cave in Deepdene, and the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs are a few of the places you may want to visit across Australia.

New Zealand likewise offers a variety of opportunities from visits to local sheep farms and animal encounters at Orana Wildlife Park to Hobbiton Movie Set Tours and the unique Te Papa museum. All of that barely scratches the surface. Australia and New Zealand offer an array of natural and manmade attractions for visitors of all ages. They also have something for everyone no matter where your family’s interests may lie.

Finding Your Perfect Family Vacation Destination

If you’re thinking of taking a family vacation, the entire world is essentially at your disposal. No matter where you decide to go, your family is bound to have an exciting and educational adventure. You’ll learn about nature, history, and different cultures all while enjoying a variety of new experiences together. Whether you choose to stay fairly local or branch out to different corners of the globe, you’ll find endless family-friendly opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime.
