Gambling Limits in Sweden and How They Work

Online gambling in the EU has been getting more and more popular all over the world for years. Each year, it got safer, more games were added, technology got better, and the look and feel of the games became better too. Today, there are hundreds or even thousands of games in each casino, depending on where you live and what casinos you have access to.

Sweden has a very high rate of gambling, and people who want to gamble need to know which websites are safe and what features they can expect from each site.

Gambling limits in Swedish casinos

The Swedish government kept its promise to impose temporary limits on online gambling by adding new security measures to protect players, particular dung the Covid-19 pandemic.

The rules are meant to keep players from being negatively affected by gambling. Officials say that the measures will stay in place until 2023 and will limit both online casinos and slot machines.

Players will only be able to deposit $500 per week, and companies will offer bonuses of up to SEK 100 or about $10. In addition to this rule, players will now have to limit the amount of time they spend playing online casino games.

Responding to these changes, Swedish Minister of Social Security, Ardalan Shekarabi, said that the current exemption has created a “combination of circumstances.” And that this exemption could make consumers in the gaming industry more vulnerable. Shekarabi went on to say that because of this, possible dangers need to be dealt with quickly and firmly.

The minister also told the country’s Public Health Directorate to do more research on how people gambled during the pandemic. Lena Hallengren, Minister of Social Affairs, said, “We need to learn more about how the epidemic has changed gambling addiction.”

Resistance to the new limits in online gambling.

Even when the proposed measures were still in the discussion stage, a lot of big operators spoke out against them. They said that the move, which seemed good at first, would increase the offshore online gambling market more than it should.

The country’s gambling regulator has said that offshore gambling could grow by 80%, which would make the original measures less effective. Swedish operators have signed a petition put together by Branschforeningen for Onlinespel (BOS), the country’s association of gambling operators, asking Shekarabi not to take action.

William Hill, Kindred Group, Skattefria Casinon, and Betsson, as well as NetEnt, a well-known company that makes gambling products, have all signed the petition. Many people now think that this decision means that the online gambling market will no longer follow the law.

Still, some online casinos that don’t have a Swedish licence have a big advantage in the form of big bonuses and other good deals.

Spelinspektionen suspends 10 more licences

At a time when big changes are coming to the Swedish market, the Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, is going after operators who don’t have the right licence. Ten companies have been told to stop selling 45 different brands in the country.

The organisations that had to follow rules said that the affiliates were going after Swedish customers with ways to pay and get bonuses. Six of the ten businesses were based in Curacao, and the other four were in Cyprus, Malta, and licensing offices in Europe.

Spelinspektionen has suspended 20 operators so far because their systems didn’t work in line with high industry standards for protecting customers and regulatory requirements. The case with the most attention was that of 1xBet.

Betsson has said that it will fight the $2.2 million fine that was just given to it. Spelinspektionen put the fine in place after finding problems with the rules and claiming that unauthorized companies were selling vouchers to fund online accounts.

Casinos without gambling limits

Not everyone plays with a lot of money. You might just want to try out different software or play a few rounds of roulette on your phone. If this is what you want, consider using casinos without gambling limits.

The deposit amounts are the main thing that sets this type of site apart from “standard” platforms. Casinos usually have a minimum limit on how much you can deposit. This is done for the company’s benefit and to make sure customers buy something.

Usually, the lowest amount you can deposit is between $10 and $20. Some platforms do have higher limits, as high as $50 or even $100.

As you might expect, a casino with no deposit limit doesn’t have such rules. You can use as little as you want when playing. In theory, you could put in 1 cent, but you have to think about the minimum bets for casino games—one cent might not even be enough to pull in one slot!

The biggest benefit is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money. A site like this is great if you just want to play one or two games of blackjack without spending a lot of money.

Also, this kind of site makes it easy to get to and play games quickly. Usually, it only takes a few minutes to sign up for an account, make a small payment, and start playing. A platform like this is great if you just want to play a quick game on your phone for 10 minutes during your break. Regardless of the casino you choose, ensure that it has top-notch security solutions.
