There are only a handful of hip-hop artists originating from suburban “outskirts” in their city, such as Lil Nas X, Lil Yachty, & Mulatto. However, within the past five years, being from the inner city isn’t a “requirement” anymore for new artists. The presence of social media and digital marketing has made it possible for the lesser known, “unheard” artist to gain attention. In fact, new methods of digital outreach have allowed such artists to receive similar, if not, the same digital analytical traction as an inner city artist. South Atlanta rapper Ross Taxin figured out a way to manipulate the internet in a way that Atlanta has never seen before.

Born in Atlanta, GA, Ross Taxin resided in Riverdale & Fayetteville until age 18. Starting an online record label, a clothing company, and dropping several hot singles and mixtapes, Ross Taxin seemed prime for takeoff at a very young age. However, he was briefly derailed, having to serve an 18 month sentence for drug intent at the Fayette County Detention Center. While serving in prison, the pen and paper became his true love. On his time incarcerated, Ross comments “ I just had so many ideas, 1000s of raps, ideas, and ways to break out of jail”. After his brief incarceration stint, he spent time reading, reinventing his sound and recovering from PTSD. Now, Ross Taxin is ready to take the rap game by storm, and he plans on taking his city with him.

The coined phrase from Outkast member, Andre 3000, “The South got something to say”, has a new fresh breath of air as upcoming artist Ross Taxin, saying is “The burbs got something to say.” Inspired by popular song “Not Atlanta”, this track encouraged Ross Taxin to take his hometown pride not only to the next level, but promote it every chance he got in live performances, interviews, and press. Moreover, he continues to work with a diverse array of local artists, editors and producers. He says “ I’m the first one out my city that made it to WorldStar and I’m focused on making sure everyone in my city eats”.

Ross Taxin displays a mechanically eccentric approach to music in a current innovative way that is almost similar to huge corporation branding. However, understanding that the music industry is constantly evolving, Ross Taxin knows he is more than just a performing act. His never-ending branding ensures listeners that his product can be devoured in many ways besides lyrics & downloads.

After recently releasing his new single “$1,750”, Ross Taxin is continuing to put pressure on the rap game. He plans on releasing 20 singles, 20 videos, and receiving 20 label offers before the end of the year. Follow his Instagram @1rosstaxin. Follow him on Twitter & Facebook @rosstaxin.
