Atlantic City Tales – How Slots Rule the Industry

Aside from Vegas, Atlantic City has long since been known as the city to visit if you enjoy gambling and are seeking a big win. This is because of the multitudes of excellent casino games offered by the nine top-rated casinos throughout the city.

With the staggering amount of gaming options available, one type rises above the rest in popularity. This is, of course, the slot game. Generally simple to play while also offering good odds, slots rule the industry in this iconic gambling location.

Slot Appeal

New Jersey slots, just like those found in Vegas, have many aspects that appeal to players looking to try their luck. These different factors make the games the go-to if you are looking for a mix of entertainment and opportunity.

Entertainment

With bright colours, stunning graphics, engaging gameplay, and ambient music, slots provide great entertainment value that goes beyond simply offering a chance to win. Most slots offer enticing bonuses (such as free spins and multipliers) and make you feel more like you’re playing a high-quality modern video game versus a traditional slot. This video-game vibe can easily keep you entertained for extended periods—and sometimes even make you lose track of time.

However, for players who don’t like all the modern LEDs and animations, many casinos still cater with traditional three- or five-reel slots as well.

RTP (Return to Player)

The next thing that makes slots so appealing is the higher return-to-player (RTP) rate when compared to some other casino games—which are more reliant on pure luck.

Many of the best slots boast RTP rates of over 90%. This RTP is how players know what they can expect to win on a machine. A higher RTP means that you may win more often and thus make more money.

After all, decent RTP rates are how some of the biggest casino winners in the world won their fortunes on slot machines.

Budget

Most slot machines accept denominations ranging from $0.05 to $1, and sometimes more for the big-coin machines. This means that players have various choices in how much they want to spend per trip (or per spin).

Because of the low denomination offered by some slots, players can play for a long time on a relatively small amount of money—even if they’re not having the best of luck. And if they are lucky, they’ll be able to play even longer.

For players who are looking to win more significant amounts and aren’t as concerned about the cost, the big-coin machines are the perfect slots to play. These offer higher wins alongside the same great entertainment.

Ease of Use

Unlike Poker, Craps, or Baccarat, slots don’t require any knowledge of how the game works to begin playing. Instead, you can sit down and start spinning—picking up which symbols you want to see on your screen while you’re playing.

This ease of use makes slots the perfect game if you’re short on time, don’t necessarily feel like concentrating too much whilst playing, or are just looking for a fun way to play without much effort.

It also means that you can move from one machine to another without having to learn something completely new. This allows you to try even more games and get even more chances to win.

Availability

While many casinos offer plenty of great table games—from Roulette to Poker—slots outnumber table games in every casino. This is not just due to their popularity but also because they don’t require staff to operate them, thus allowing players to play independently.

Because of this, many casinos offer an astonishing number of slot games to play. Many offer thousands of different slot machines—such as Borgata, which has over 3,000 different slots.

Slot Industry

With all these great reasons to love slots, it is no wonder they make up the majority of money earned (and lost) by casinos.

In 2021, casinos in Atlantic City reported a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of more than $2.55 billion. Of this monumental amount, slot machines accounted for $1.87 billion. This means that slots alone generated just over 73% of all income for casinos in the city.

Because of this probability, many casinos invest heavily in slot machines, which cost between $15,000 and $20,000 per machine, and sometimes more. In turn, this attracts more players to try their luck, which boosts casinos’ income and results in more machines. And thus, the cycle continues as new and exciting slots are offered to players.

Final Say

Slot machines certainly have a place in any avid or casual gamer’s heart. Whether it be the excitement of winning a few dollars the first time you played or endless hours of fun as you try to top your personal records, almost all of us have experienced a slot high.

With the incredible thrill offered by these machines and the many enticing elements that make you want to play, there is no wonder why slots are the kings of the industry.

As new technologies develop—such as VR slots—there seems to be no end to the exciting slots that are bound to be released. Therefore, this is a type of game that will be around for the long haul.
