Digital signage is transforming the way that businesses communicate with their customers. In the past, owners or management would need to spend a lot of time manually updating their signage.

However, due to the prime real estate that signage takes up, it often made economic sense to make these updates.

Signs are a powerful form of communication and marketing.

If your business hasn’t started using a digital signage solution yet, you need to start. Why?  There are so many benefits, which you’ll read about in the coming sections.

What is Digital Signage?

Digital signage is exactly what it sounds like: digital signs. Truly, they’re monitors that have messages and content displayed on them through some form of a content management system. These displays can be used in numerous ways, such as:

  • Displaying new products to consumers
  • Showing customers messages

In most setups, the monitors are connected to a network of one or more monitors. The display will then be connected to a central database that holds all of the content to be displayed. A manager or marketing team member will use a management system that allows them to add content for a specific amount of time into a database.

If the content is updated, the signage can automatically refresh and display the new content to the customer.

However, digital signage can also be used internally and not for the customer’s benefit. For example, a manager may put up the week’s schedule on a monitor that is only viewable by employees.

If you’re a business owner, digital signage is a powerful tool that you can use in your business.

Why choose digital signage for your business?

Your business has messages to tell the world, whether you’re promoting a new product or service or a sale of some sort. Digital signage has numerous business benefits, including:

  • Attract window shoppers. People are window shoppers. When a person stands in front of a store, they’ll scan it before going in to see if there’s anything that they like. Signage or displays can be used to get these shoppers into your store and see your goods. And if the person is standing in front of two identical stores, guess which one they’ll enter? The store with signage showing the latest sales or product demos.
  • Convert leads. How often have you entered a store, looked at a product and decided against it? You were a business’s lost lead. Signage can be placed in key areas to boost sales by creating a sense of urgency and demand for a product. Additionally, you may put an interactive display near the product, allowing consumers to view a complete demo to sell them on the item.
  • Build awareness. Customers need to trust and know your brand. Your logo may be the first sense of brand awareness a potential customer has for your business. However, with each time they see the logo, it helps build even more brand awareness. When the customer sees your logo on digital displays, it’s a key way to build trust and brand awareness, both of which are cornerstones in business.

Additionally, the proper signage has the power to improve the shopping experience for the customer. For example, an interactive display that shows vital information to the customer can help improve their experience and even lead to sales.

From a customer experience perspective, digital displays can improve the experience and answer questions without dealing with customer service agents.

Where to buy digital signage software?

If you’re considering buying digital signage software, cloud-based systems are often the best. When you choose cloud-based solutions, you benefit from:

  • Minimal overhead because you don’t need to invest in IT equipment or maintenance
  • Fast and efficient solutions that are often pay-as-you-go

Many digital sign vendors offer their own software solutions, which are ideal because you can use these solutions on their signage without concern about compatibility issues. However, you can also choose a powerful and intuitive solution, like those offered by TelemetryTV.

The company offers a free trial, and you can even demo their software.

When trying to find the right digital signage software for your needs, always demo the software to ensure that it has the features and compatibility needed to run your signage optimally.
