3 Reasons you should have a sectional in your community space

When you are outfitting the living room, family room, or rec room of a shared home, you can’t go wrong with a sectional. Sectionals have always been popular as a way to add a lot of seating in the most space-saving ways possible, but today’s modular sectional sofas have even more to offer. If you are furnishing a shared community space, think about these reasons you should choose a modern sectional.

Modular sectionals are the ultimate in versatile living room furniture

Today’s sectionals aren’t like the ones in your grandparent’s bonus room, rec room, or den. While sectionals have always been able to detach pieces for the purpose of moving the furniture, it wasn’t something that the average person could handle on their own. And, once placed, the sectional was fairly stationary and didn’t give a lot of options for seating arrangements.

On the other hand, the new modular sectional sofas can be moved around easily and changed to different configurations by almost anyone. Each detachable cube holds a seat or two, or perhaps a console with cup holders and USB charging ports. You can change the layout of your community living space on a whim and with little effort, making it one of the most versatile pieces of furniture you can put in a shared living situation.

Sharing time together is important

A sectional allows many people to sit together in a comfortable way that is inducive to good conversation. While sometimes it might seem like you see your roommates a bit too much, it is important to spend time together without talking about bills, grocery lists, or chore wheels. Sectionals are a great way to facilitate those conversations.

Another way you can use a sectional to spend time together is by playing board games, card games, or role-playing games. When you pair a sectional with a coffee table, ottomans, or other living room furniture, you can easily create a space that is much better for gaming than a dining table. If you get a modular sofa you can even change the configuration to meet the needs of whatever activities you are enjoying that day.

Sectionals are extremely durable

Most sectional sofas are very durable, and they can last for many years. While you probably won’t live with your roommates that long, this does mean that the sectional is likely the only furniture you need to buy for your shared living room. You can also leave the sectional behind for the next group of friends to take over the home.

The durability of sectionals is important when you are placing them in a shared living situation among young adults. A cheap couch could break down within a few short months if you overuse it or abuse it, which most young people do at some point. On the other hand, a living room furniture sectional can last up to 7 to 10 years even with hard use, and you can go deal on them to get a great price.
