These legal processes have been devised for the welfare of the citizens. Therefore, they must follow these laws to avail the benefits.

This tax is also referred to as the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax. One needs to adhere to all the laws related to the 2290. The truck proprietors must present the proof of payment before the internal revenue service.

The Form 2290 needs to be filed if one owns a vehicle weighing more than twenty-five thousand kilograms and has travelled more than eight-thousand fifty kilometres. The distance traveled is measured with the help of a device known as the odometer. The tax should be paid before the due date.

With the advent of technology, one has the option of filing form 2290 online. The online mode is pretty convenient as compared to the offline mode. One can easily file form 2290 using any e-file service providers authorized by the IRS.

Today, it is possible to compute the 2290 due date with the online due date calculator. The form filing starts from the 31st of July and lasts till the 31st of August. If the vehicle is bought after August, then the tax shall be paid after one month of the purchase.

With the evolvement of the truck industry, many revolutionary technologies have been introduced in this industry as mentioned below:

  • Introduction of autonomous vehicles – The introduction of autonomous vehicles has created quite a stir in the trucking industry. Several features will be introduced in this class of vehicles in the upcoming years, such as collision reduction, lane departure warning, more efficient engines and other such innovative features will be inculcated.
  • Internet of things – This feature will surely interconnect a class of vehicles and form a network. Data transfer between vehicles will no longer be imaginary. This will revolutionize the trucking industry in many ways such as better understanding of the environment, environment-friendly shipping, and much more.
  • Electric trucks – After the development of electric cars, many reputed companies are working hard to make electric trucks a reality. Electric semi-trucks have already made a mark on the market. A proper and efficient charging system needs to be developed. The rise in fuel prices will make electric trucks a revolution for the trucking industry. It will become a reality soon.
  • Trucking apps – The launch of several trucking apps has played an instrumental role in revolutionizing the trucking industry. The apps contribute to major benefits like reducing the operation costs, providing relevant information about the condition of roads, locating the most affordable gas prices and finding the most convenient truck stops. This will surely prove to be a boost for the trucking industry. The details shared will be accurate.
  • GPS tracking – This feature will surely prove to be a boon for many drivers. The Global Positioning System (GPS) helps the owners contact the drivers about the location of the vehicle, the speed, the condition of the vehicle, and many other important parameters. It also clears any doubts in the minds of the driver about the route. This system also helps in enhancing the customer service.

These new features will surely play a vital role in giving a significant boost to the trucking industry. The graph of progress of this industry has risen exponentially and will see more progress in the future. Therefore, it will surely be a good idea for businessmen to invest in this industry.
