Planning In Case of Fire In A Large Event

While many of the large events are postponed because of the pandemic, some productions are already in preparation. The vaccination drive all over the world makes all events organizers get more and more excited to have programs on major venues. They would also expect large crowds to attend, given that all of them have the confidence to attend without any health concerns. This brings excitement to a lot of people who miss attending this kind of event.

This leads the event planners and organizers to prepare, which would include fire safety. Large events like concerts, trade shows, sporting events, expos, and similar occasions. Controlling a huge crowd is not a joke, therefore it is important to plan it carefully and ahead of time. If you are in charge of ensuring fire safety, here are some of the tips that you may find helpful.

1. Ensuring the venue’s fire prevention.

If you are still choosing a venue, make sure to choose a location where there is an available fire exit. Though government mandates an accessible fire exit in buildings, some of them keep it locked for security purposes. Ask the venue coordinator to check if the fire exit is still working well, including pathways that should not be blocked.

2. Have a careful event layout plan.

In relation to the accessibility of a fire exit, make sure to include its location when planning for the layout of the event. For example, if there will be a mix of food caterers or other booths that has to be set up, make sure that the location of each participant should give very wide space to exit paths (not just for the fire exit). Anticipate that event-goers would panic in case of fire. Also, put into consideration the elements that each participant will use. Let’s say that a small kitchen booth has to be set up in a trade expo, therefore place them where they can safely use a stove without the fear of starting a huge fire.

3. Checking the availability of fire fighting accessories and equipment.

Fire fighting supplies and equipment should be easily accessible to all, whether they are the attendee or the participants of the large event. Some event venues already have it in their location but could be limited in quantity. We are not talking about fire extinguishers alone, but also the use of fire blankets or any handy fire retardants. The number to dial in case of fire should also be posted to make it visible to anyone attending the event.

4. Hire a fire watch guard.

Sometimes, the options above affect the aesthetic setup of the event. Except for the accessibility of the fire exit, event planners can hire a team of fire watch security guards to help avoid fire. If you are looking for one, specialists like The Fast Fire Watch Company can give their service and help you plan ahead of the event. They can do rounds and perform checks that will prevent a fire from happening. Apart from that, these guards are highly trained to know what to do in case a fire occurred in a large event.
