4 Benefits of Getting Enough Sleep

We have all heard that adults should get around eight hours of sleep per night. This seems completely reasonable for some, but others may consistently fall short of that parameter due to sleep problems or myriad obligations. In those cases, a full night of sleep may seem like wishful thinking. Some people have found success with using CBD to aid with sleeping, and they may recommend CBD vape juice to help you sleep.

Research is still in its beginning stages in establishing a link between better sleep and CBD, but CBD is non-habit-forming and has mild side effects if any. It might be worth a try to help you catch some extra Z’s at night, especially given all of the benefits that come with a consistent full night of sleep.

  1. Enough Sleep Helps Your Immune System Function

When cold and flu season rolls around the corner, many of us reach for orange juice, vitamin C packets, zinc supplements, and other remedies to prevent ourselves from getting sick. Perhaps the best way to stave off colds and flus is by ensuring that you are getting enough sleep.

Sleeping allows our bodies to rest and focus on immune cell production to build up our immune systems, and these processes can slow down when we don’t get enough sleep. Not only are we more likely to get sick when we don’t sleep as much as we should, but our colds may also last longer than they would if we got adequate sleep more consistently.

Plus, some studies have shown that getting enough sleep after receiving a vaccine can actually make the vaccine more effective at preventing illnesses. Not bad for a free immune system booster.

  1. Adequate Sleep Can Keep You and Your Family Safe

Getting behind the wheel while sleep-deprived is incredibly dangerous. Even if you don’t feel super tired after only getting a few hours of sleep or less, can double or quadruple your chances of ending up in an accident depending upon how much you sleep the night before.

After being deprived of sleep for too long, our body’s reaction time plummets and we might not be able to react as quickly to cars swerving in front of us, animals crossing the road, or other unpredictable events. There are also many cases where people have died from car accidents after completely falling asleep at the wheel.

It may be tempting to just grab an energy drink and go, but high doses of caffeine just don’t have the same effects on your brain or reaction times as getting enough sleep.

  1. Sufficient Sleep Enhances Productivity

Almost nothing feels better than having a productive day at work or at home, but this becomes nearly impossible when we are sleep-deprived. Sleep deprivation can reduce our ability to focus, problem-solve, and think creatively, which are all skills many of us use on a daily basis.

Whether you are working or studying, getting enough sleep is one of the best things you can do to enhance your performance on tasks, such as presentations, projects, or tests. Sometimes it’s tempting to stay up late the night before a presentation or exam to cram in some extra preparation time, but you are often much better off going to bed at a decent time so that your brain has a chance to rest before your big day.

  1. Enough Sleep Improves Your Mood

Nobody wants to be known as short-tempered and crabby, but it’s all too easy to lose our cool when we are running on fumes after a night of little sleep. The mood regulation benefits you get from sleep can be enough to enhance your work, familial, and romantic relationships in a genuine and noticeable way, which in itself is a definite reason to try to catch more Z’s.

In Conclusion

If you constantly struggle to get enough sleep at night, it may be a good idea to speak with your physician about possible medical interventions. CBD may be able to help with falling asleep faster, but it won’t be able to cure an underlying problem that can lead to sleep troubles.

Sleep is clearly an important bodily function that too many people take for granted, but it is absolutely imperative for having a productive, happy, and healthy life.
