Why ‘Social Selling’ is One of A.I.’s Greatest Wins, According to ScaleX CEO Chad Burmeister

For many, the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI) conjures up perceived negatives such as expensive implementations, poor replacements for human functions, or nefarious uses and outcomes such as purchases encouraged by mountains of computer-generated and phony reviews.

But some companies are heralding the progress of digital transformation in spectacular ways that are supported by reasonable costs, rapid implementations and inarguable numeric results. ScaleX is one of these companies, headed by CEO Chad Burmeister and an all-star Colorado-based leadership team.

One of the greatest examples of AI’s promise is in the arena of social selling, Burmeister says. As an example of the potential economy of AI, the ScaleX Social Selling Platform accomplishes goals such as effective and consistent LinkedIn outreach that would be so costly and time-consuming through traditional means that most companies don’t even pursue it.

Here’s the data on a specific example. A well-known networking company was empowered by the ScaleX platform with a Virtual Assistant to deliver LinkedIn connection requests and invitations to engage. It is easy to measure the outcome of an initiative like this. The outcomes are stunning. For the networking company with a business invitation and message, the results looked like this:

Campaign 1: A business invitation from a well-known networking company

  • 3,124 connection requests, 433 accepted, 126 replies in 2 months
  • 8% acceptance rate
  • 29% reply rate to those who accepted connection

For anyone in the sales business, these results are indisputable. Each company will know the conversion rates it achieves with interested and engaged respondents, which will make it easy to assess the cost of this campaign against the achievement of profit. This result should make every organization sit up straight.

But there’s been another discovery that is one of the most surprising and heartening results of AI, Burmeister notes. This is the amount of success an organization can achieve with a philanthropic message (in this case a pitch to the press with an invitation to provide philanthropic messages and news).  Imagine the ability to achieve an outcome like this:

Campaign 2: Philanthropic outreach to content editors

  • 64 connection requests, 12 accepted, 12 replies
  • 20% acceptance rate
  • 100% reply rate

A 100 percent reply rate from a member of the press? Yes, the message was a value-add for its recipients of support and service that was too good to refuse. But imagine the benefits to business, society and culture when the power of AI can be channeled for good?

The secret of successful AI is about connecting data with outcomes. Beyond sales outcomes, the data could range from securely delivering patient instructions to nurse practitioners, delivering MRI scanners and imaging to physicians, or the creation of a robust guest network for loved ones visiting patients.

Burmeisterconcluded by weighing in on the future of A.I.:

“With so much automation available at such a low cost, I’m seeing that companies who reach out with a genuine interest in helping the other person are winning big time. I’m also seeing conversations about faith over fear enter the workplace in the work from home environment in which we live. It’s refreshing.”
