Evan The Card Guy on Achieving Social Media Fame

Not often does a person leave a janitor job and start living their dreams immediately. Evan The Card Guy did it, and his story is inspiring. Going from janitor to a magician and content creator with more than 18 million followers on social media is not something we see every day. Evan The Card Guy started making TikTok videos for fun in 2019 as a college student who also worked as a janitor. He kept posting videos, and on his fifth video, it gained organic traction, and things took off from there.

Evan The Card Guy has been doing magic from a very young age, and at 13, he was the youngest ever to become a member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood. He acquired all the requisite knowledge and experience at an early age, which enabled him to take off the moment he began to post his magician content on social media. After establishing his presence on TikTok and other social media platforms, he quit his job and school to focus on his career. By 2020, Evan The Card Guy became the most followed magician on TikTok, which has opened up many doors of opportunities for him as a magician.

His magic centers on light-hearted comedy and fun content. Doing magic is a life-long dream for him, and it is the only thing that gives him joy today. “I really pursued my dreams on my own and was a pioneer in bringing magic to social media. I had no direction or advice from anyone, so I had to do lots of trial and error to get to where I am today. I’ve posted over 3,000 unique videos total in the last two years,” he says.

Building his brand has been solely about sharing his talents and skills with the world. Getting into magic as a young boy was not planned. When he was 12, he was grounded from playing video games, and out of boredom, he started learning some magic tricks. He has not looked back since. Now, he wants the world to have fun and enjoy the magic tricks he has acquired over the years. As Evan The Card Guy continues to build his brand, his five-year goal is to gain access to some of the most famous people in the world and create videos with them, making cameo appearances in the videos.

“I believe I have all it takes to be this generation’s David Blaine. I am working hard to be the face of magic, and until everyone knows about my brand, I’m going to keep grinding daily,” he says. Evan The Card Guy knows how much his life has changed in the past two years, and he is fully aware that many other young people may see his story as an inspiration. To this end, he wants anyone planning to become a magician to read his story and be inspired. According to him, anything is possible if one works for it and ignores the naysayers. In his words, “Confidence is everything. If anyone expresses a tiny bit of doubt about your abilities, use that doubt as motivation and get things done.”
