If you still believe that artists will generally starve in this generation and the next, think again. The world-famous Italian painter, Chiara Magni, disproves the common belief that artists do not make money at all.

The 31-year-old artist who is now living in Lake Garda, Italy, specializes in finger painting. She decided to become a full-time professional painter in 2014 after years of struggling with the idea of pursuing her real passion in life. She has no regrets at all! She always knew in her heart that she is being called to impact the world through her art. And this is what she is doing now. She sold over 200 paintings to art enthusiasts and collectors from the United States, Europe, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, to name a few.

In an interview with us, Chiara shared how her passion for the arts started. “I remember very well how I have always wanted to be an artist since I was a little girl,” Chiara says. “At a young age, I felt shy and embarrassed about the idea. But the desire never left my mind,” Chiara added. “My mind was consumed by the idea of becoming an established artist all day.” And that was how she started thinking big. It became clear to her what she truly wants to do in life.

When asked what her secret to success is, “Focus is necessary to achieve success. The important thing is never to give up easily, to continue to press on no matter what the odds,” she says. Her mantra includes making sure to become better than she was yesterday. “It’s all just a matter of giving one’s self-time.”

She remembers numerous times in her life when she thought about quitting. She felt exhausted most of the time. But being the determined person that she is, she knew she could not give up. Instead, she forced herself to find the strength to continue with what she started. After doing this, things fell into place.

Inspiration may come and go for some artists, but not for Magni. “I always find ways to stay motivated, so I can do what I love the most. Creativity is my constant companion. Everything I see around me is fuel to my mind,” she shares.

For Chiara, hearing stories from fans, including widows and cancer patients, inspire her to come up with more impactful pieces. “My fans who cannot afford my artworks say that they still find solace just by looking at my paintings. Most of them feel energized and happier after looking at them.”

Not only is Magni thankful for the Internet as it helps her connect with collectors from all over the world. It has given her great opportunities as an artist. Without it, it would have been a lot harder for her to sell her paintings outside of Europe. Knowing that the old masters did not have the same tools in the past, she is determined to succeed on their behalf.

Asked what her goals are as an artist, Chiara says, “One of my primary goals is to serve as an inspiration to numerous artists all over the world. I understand the struggles that many artists go through. I have doubted my abilities myself, and I was not sure I could impact others through my art.” She wishes that her life story will serve as a guide, a beacon of light to those who need it the most.

The most collected finger painter from Europe is looking forward to seeing more visual artists find their niche in the world. Just as she has established herself as a dedicated professional painter, Magni hopes that other talented artists will be able to build their following. According to Chiara, “I believe that artists like me do not need live penniless lives. We only have to be confident in our abilities.”

Chiara made it big not because she is lucky, but because she pushed herself to be better. “I gave myself time until I was ready to step out of my comfort zone,” Chiara shares. “I worked tirelessly and courted inspiration instead of just waiting for it in vain,” she added.

Her life is a living testimony to her fellow artists, and even to those who are not, that anyone can do anything they set their minds. One has to start somewhere.
