Buying presents these days can be a fairly hard process to find something that is truly unique and wanted by your lucky recipient. The reason being that with internet shopping and behemoths like Amazon being able to deliver anything to anyone’s door, sometimes within hours, most people are not only able to get what they want a great deal easier, they have a lot more of what they want in the first place.

Buying more things for people around birthdays, anniversaries and Christmases can therefore become a bit of chore or a task ticking exercise. Very often, all too many of us are guilty of buying just anything for the people we love. Whilst our want is there to buy something that they will truly cherish, sometimes it is an almost impossible task – especially for those that seem to have everything they want or could possibly need already.

However, there is a new art label that may well have changed that. Bag and Bones is a hip, new enterprise from sisters Gigi and Cavanagh Foyle. They create LED neon light installations that really stand out from the crowd. They are fun, quirky and also environmentally friendly. The materials used are safe even for kids as LED lighting doesn’t smash like other lighting fixtures may do. Additionally, they use up to 90% less energy to run than other normal strip lighting installations so they can be on without fear of hurting the planet or racking up a huge electricity bill.

There are a number of pieces to buy ‘off the shelf’ that the company produces for sale through their website and stockists, like Harrods, Liberty and Harvey Nichols. However, it is also possible to request or commission a custom piece so that you can design an installation that is perfect for the person you want to surprise.

The company works with clients to ensure that any custom pieces are exactly as they would want them to be. Whilst they point out restrictions that the medium of LED lighting may have (like the fact that the LED neon tubing used has a uniform thickness), but otherwise the sky’s the limit for what they can make for you. The most popular requests tend to be around catch phrases or slogans, but the company can also create visually appealing graphics or logos. They do recommend that for the final piece to work best, it is a good idea to keep a simple design throughout.

But in terms of colours and mounts, there are a huge range to choose from that will help create a really unique piece for your loved one that will suit their tastes to a T. The Bag and Bones production team also reminds you of the practical side of life when buying one of their custom pieces. This means they will take into account the need for correct cables and wiring which will not only keep you safe, it will also keep your final piece look great at all times.

So if you have a tricky person’s birthday coming up and you don’t know what to buy them, head over to Bag and Bones and check out their offering. You won’t be disappointed.
