Measuring an area where you intend to place your furniture does not just include the length and the width of the wall. There are several other factors to consider when it comes to measuring a space for a new furniture, or möbel nach maß. These include the presence of any electrical outlets, position of the room door and the possibility of the door opening after installing the furniture, position of the windows and their height, and so on. Here are some simple ideas for you to measure available space properly before you install a furniture.

  • Come Up with A Floor Plan: If you are going to buy brand new furniture, it will be a good thing to have proper idea of what to look for even before you decide to shop. It is good for you to remember that the sofa you liked at the store in your previous visit may fit easily against a wall. However, if you also wish to install a lamp or a table, you should have a proper floor plan of the space. This will put you in a better position of choosing your furniture wisely.
  • Delivery Measurement: It is important for you to remember that a piece of furniture may fit inside your apartment. However, you may have a really tough time trying to get it inside your apartment. It is, thus, important that you also measure the stairways, all possible entryways, and elevators before you shop for your favorite furniture. Make sure to measure the height and the width of all possible entry ways, interiors, elevator doors, and hallways. You will also have to use this measurement to ensure that the furniture fits well. Better carry a measuring tape along with you while shopping. It is important for you to remember that some furniture may fit at a specific angle. Thus, better measure the furniture of your choice at a diagonal if the width seems to be too wide.

It is true that buying the right pieces of furniture can be a challenging task for most of you. This is especially true for those of you who live in small apartments. If your apartment is small, it will be a good idea to opt for small pieces of furniture. It is also true that in a small space, less is always found to be more.
