Many plumbers that you may call offer a general amount of experience and they’re happy to share it, but usually it’s while they’re doing the task at hand. The best plumbers not only have a website, but have some tips that they can give tips to you both on their websites and when you call. In this guide though, we’re going to give you some tips that the best Lakeside Plumbing Company can give for you when it comes to plumbing projects, from DIY projects to tips that will help when you need to call a plumber.

Plunge it First

Using a plunger is one of the first things you will want to do with clogged drains. If this doesn’t work, then it can be in your pipes under your sinks, bathrooms, or toilets. You can usually do this yourself. Just be sure that there’s no chemicals in it when you to do avoid getting splashed by chemicals that can result in injury. You may be surprised at how well this can work. You remember the Ernest movies from the 1980’s? If you do, and you plunge a toilet like that, you can eliminate a lot of problems this way.

Use Baking Soda and Vinegar

Instead of buying a bottle of Drain-O, fill your sink or bathtub drain with a box of baking soda which is usually really cheap at the store. Then use a bottle of regular white vinegar, or even apple cider vinegar (which is slightly more acidic) in your drain. NEVER use bleach, especially after using chemicals for this type of stuff. If you do use bleach, don’t ever use it on completely clogged drains, but only use it on a slow drain to help remove the clog. Just don’t mix acid and bleach together as this can be fatal or harmful.

If You Have a Running Toilet

If your toilet is constantly running, check the interior toilet hardware in the tank first. This can often be because the chain needs adjusted, or that your flapper may need replaced. If this happens, you can usually do this yourself in a matter of minutes by buying a kit from a local hardware store or retail outlet (like Wal-Mart). This can save you a ton by not having to call a plumber.

Explain Your Problem and Ask What You Can Do

Every plumber can do all of the basic work too, but the best plumbers would rather not have to charge you for something you could easily do yourself. Believe it or not, they’re looking out for you and your pocketbook, which is something that makes them the best. If all else fails, sure you can go ahead and hire them.

Know Where Your Water Main Is

Most importantly if you have a plumbing problem, you more than likely need to turn off your water main. Knowing where it is and turning it off is often the first step in most plumbing applications, so even if you’re calling a problem, turning it off will eliminate some steps for them.

Conclusion

Core Lakeside Plumber has been serving the Lakeside area and even further than that for years. They take pride in their work, and take pride in your endeavors, so they’re happy to provide some plumbing tips even if you call them for an estimate for a problem. They care about their customers and don’t want you to spend more money than you have to.
