Ford has taken a decision to recall more than 1.3mn Explorer SUV’s, majorly in North America, over an issue with their transmission and suspension control software.
The recalled vehicles cover Explorer models from the year 2011 through the year 2017. The company said that vehicles which run over rough roads and terrain might encounter a fractured rear suspension toe link that can affect the steering control and elevate risk of accidents. In fact, one of the Explorer owners reported of hitting into a curb when a toe link broke, however, Ford said that it’s not aware about any sort of injuries.
The recall would cost Ford nearly $180mn and will be done completely free for the Explorer owners.
Apart from this, the automobile company also made an announcement about 3 other minor recalls. The first one is a recall of 123,000 Ford Flex and Taurus cars. The second and third recalls are of Lincoln MKS as well as MKT cars sold across Canada. These cars also have the same toe link issue. Ford said that it’s well aware about one car crash which involved minor injuries related with the issue. The affected cars cover models from the year 2009 through the year 2017.
