The Ohio Education Department requires the sum of $50mn after deceiving several schools as well as other organizations offering special education to the disabled students.

Upon the request of the department, the Controlling Board of the state on Monday agreed for the release of $30mn instalment. The request was approved by a legislator’s panel without any comment.

The officials of the Education Department said that the entities would be receiving an overall sum of $50mn in 2019 as well as the following year to balance out the error. In total, the state received the sum of $470mn previous school year in the form of federal help meant for special education.

As per the request made by the department to the Controlling Board, the education providers received the sum of $50mn less in the form federal help via the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in contrast to what they were really entitled to from the year 2016 till 2018.

The undisclosed districts that received more of funding that they were entitled will not have to give back the overpaid sum.
