It keeps the customer entertained and distracted so that they can cope better as they wait. This has been a savior to many businesses especially those that serve many customers back to back.

Why you need Hold Music

Holding on a call is not something that anyone looks forward to. However, if your favorite music is playing as you wait, it will take a little longer for the wait to annoy you. Hold music keeps the caller distracted and helps them to at least enjoy something during the wait.

With the right choice of music, the mood of the caller or listener can be positively influenced. Sometimes customers are angry for one reason or another as they make those helpline calls. Good music has the power to soothe the customer and give them a better mood. This means that by the time they are getting served, they are able to converse better and get the help they need.

Another reason why hold music is important is for privacy right before and during conversions. The support staff is always conversing on the other side and it is not in order for a customer to hear information that does not concern them. Also, if the staff member needs to consult about the customer in between a call, then hold music comes in handy.

You can also use hold music to market your business further. Though this may be annoying to customers who are calling to complain, it is still useful for your business. A well-composed piece highlighting the basics of your business will still be appreciated by most of your customers. Only do not keep them waiting for unnecessarily too long or it will become offensive.

How to choose the best Hold Music

It is not good enough to just gather a random collection of music and assume that your customers will like it. There are factors to consider while choosing the music to play. These include:

  • The Wait Duration

The time that a customer is likely to spend on hold should be factored when choosing the hold music. If it is going to be a short time, you need music that will have made an impact in a short time. For a long waiting period, choose music that is not likely to bore the customer. You can even blend different pieces to form one interesting piece.

  • Appropriate Genre

For you to choose the right hold music, you must consider what your business does. There are different genres and music compositions but not all will suit your business. Go through various genres and pieces of music and decides what best represents what you do. Do not create the wrong impression about you by playing the wrong hold music.

  • Quality

It is not enough to have the right genre of hold music playing and for the right duration. If the music is of poor quality, it will irritate the customer on hold and even spoil their mood. Keep your customers entertained and refreshed by getting high-quality hold music. Do not underestimate the power of good quality music.

  • The Audience

This applies mostly to those who have homogeneous kind of customer base. If your clients lie in a particular bracket of age or social status, then you will be able to know their taste. Even though individuals differ in terms of their taste for music, you can accurately come up with hold music that appeals to most if not all of your customers.

Hold music plays a big role in call retention and ultimately customer satisfaction. Many business owners do not handle it with the seriousness it deserves. Follow the guide given here and identify the best hold music to give your customers an easy waiting time.
