The world of business and organizations is rapidly shifting to the adoption of digit technology in their ranks. However, there has to be some sort of guidepost telling them how to implement these digital systems. This is where the role of ITIL Professionals comes in. Those having an ITIL Certification can guide businesses towards the best practices of digital implementation that are consistent with the principles of ITIL. ITIL itself is highly accepted as it has become an internationally accepted standard for the Management of IT Services.

What is ITIL?

ITIL stands for IT Infrastructure Library. As the name suggests, ITIL is a library of many different volumes that suggest a framework of the best ways to deliver IT services. ITIL is a systematic approach to codifying the right practices necessary in the world of IT. It was developed under the British Government by the Central Computers and Telecommunications Agency in the 1980s. Starting off with only 30 books, ITIL has gone through several revisions over the years and now includes many different books now. The most recent iteration is ITIL 4 which was released in 2019 and focuses on 9 guiding principles which are:

  • Focus on the value.
  • Design for user experience.
  • Start from yourself.
  • Holistic Approach.
  • Iterative Progress.
  • Direct Observation.
  • Transparency
  • Collaboration
  • Simplicity

Using these principles, ITIL 4 aims to focus on automation while improving the flow of service management so that IT can be integrated into the various functions and departments of a business.

Benefits of ITIL:

The demand for ITIL Professionals is very high as they bring many benefits to a business. Some of them include:

  • ITIL is able to create a stronger alignment between the business and Information Technology. This is done by unifying their objectives and functioning to suit each other’s needs.
  • The practices of ITIL are first and foremost focused on improving the quality of the customer experience and delivering the best possible service to them. A happy customer is the best thing that any business can desire which is why IT should also aim to achieve this.
  • Better utilizes resources so that costs can be reduced.
  • ITIL has clear transparency of the costs and assets of IT.
  • ITIL allows businesses to clearly manage any risks and contingencies that they might face.
  • ITIL creates a stable environment for the business to operate under.

Getting an ITIL Certificate:

The AXELOS Foundation has partnered with many different professional affiliated trainers across the world to deliver ITIL online training. The process of getting an ITIL Certification is very simple. Firstly you need to undergo an online training course. This course is usually 16 hours long-spanning through two days. The next step is to give a 60-minute examination and score 65% marks in order to pass. After passing the exam, you are now officially a certified ITIL Professional!

This ITIL Certification is the edge you need over the competition in order to showcase your skills and be hired by the best of businesses!
