A Guide to Women’s Perfume

Everyone wants to smell great always, and achieving this has been part of our daily routine. Also, perfumes are now seen as part of our identity, that is why it is essential to choose a perfume that can match and define our personalities. However, with so many perfumes and colognes, it is hard to know which one will suit us.

Fortunately, this article that was published on Fragrance 365 will give you a better understanding of perfumes and how some jargon will give you more ideas about a particular scent or cologne.

Fragrance Categories

  1. Parfum- also called extrait de parfum or pure perfume, has the highest fragrance concentration, usually between 20 to 30 percent. Also, it lasts the longest, for about six to eight hours.
  2. Eau de Parfum- it has a general concentration of about 5 to 15 percent. It lasts for two to three hours. Moreover, this is cheaper than parfum and is most famous for all fragrance types.
  3. Eau de Cologne- Aside from its 2 to 4 percent concentration, it has a scent that can last for two hours. Despite its low concentration, it has a high alcohol content.
  4. Eau Fraiche- it has the lowest fragrance concentration, usually from 1 to 3 percent only. It also has a lower alcohol content than Eau de cologne. 

Fragrance Composition

A perfume is made up of distinct scent notes that interact with each other to produce a particular scent, not the combination of it. Scent notes fall into three types: 

  1. Top notes- Often sharp and distinct, this is what is smelled immediately which usually lasts for minutes to an hour after spraying.
  2. Heart notes- also called middle notes, these are the smoother aroma than the top note, and most last from four to six hours after application.
  3. Base notes- these parts come slowly, mostly many hours after being sprayed. It is usually warm and sensual compared to the other mentioned notes. 

Kinds of perfumes

Aquatic

The scent of this perfume makes you remind of the summer breeze and the summer beach. Described as marine notes, these perfumes have the aroma of saltwater and the ocean breeze. This can be used on your casual weekend getaways.

Animalics

Characterized as earthy, these perfume kinds are synthetic. It has sweet nuances and is thought to prompt the primitive lure.  These have musky and rich aromas. 

Aromatics

Herbaceous and spicy, these perfumes can be seen in most of the men’s fragrances. Also, it is sensuous which make also ideal for casual weekend trips.

Citrus

Looking for something sweet and delicious aromas? Fragrances with concoctions of orange, bergamot, lemon, and apple are the best types of perfumes to use. Its scent also triggers sunny and bright aura if used both during weekends and even at work.

Florals

Floral perfumery is the classic and timeless kind of fragrance. This type is best to use when you go to work most especially because of its simple and unremarkable aromas, something that is ideal in a person’s workplace.
