The COVID-19 pandemic brought stark realizations along with it and drastic changes to how people work. For a brand design Guru like James Sommerville, he saw an opportunity within those changes and he is now leveraging that opportunity to create a brand new platform called ‘Known Unknown’, that creative talents can benefit from. Being a seasoned creative himself, Sommerville set out to revolutionize the conventional talent agency into a more cohesive platform, where talents can thrive and brands can achieve their goals more seamlessly.

Known Unknown goes beyond another talent pool where brands can work with talents. The platform will have advanced technological features, like non-fungible tokens (NFTs), artificial intelligence, automation and crypto currency. Overall, it is the platform’s goal is to bring together creative talents from all over the world to collaborate, share, mentor one another and grow.

With a new website set to launch later in April 2021, Known Unknown has put everything in place to kick-start its services and stay ahead of its competitors. Ultimately, it is James’s goal to get 200 brands and five million creatives working with the company. James strongly believes that COVID-19 is not enough to hinder anyone from doing business. With that said and in conjunction with the companies set goals in addition to the features that the platform will have, James is confident that within a few years Known Unknown will become one of the most heavily touted creative communities of all time. With Known Unknown, brands and entrepreneurs will be able to push their business forward and edge closer to their creative goals.

Over the last 35 years, Sommerville has acquired valuable experience, which has led him to this creative venture. To show his commitment to the cause, James stepped away from his role and most recent position as the Vice President of Global Design at The Coca-Cola Company, which he held from 2013 to 2018. His work at The Coca-Cola Company spanned many notable achievements, including the successful branding of products such as Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Minute Maid, Powerade and Mello-Yello and many more. Since departing from this role, James has recently been appointed to handle the global rebranding of many other well-known brands, such as Google, Ford Motor Company, HP, Kellogg’s, Pringles, Nature Valley & Elanco.

James is also the Founder of ATTIK, a creative design agency that was set up in the UK after winning a £2,000 start-up grand in 1986. From there, James grew a presence for ATTIK in opened offices in Leeds, London, New York, San Francisco, Sydney & Los Angeles, employing over 250 staff members.

With James’ wealth of experience, creative talents can be assured that working under a platform like Known Unknown can take them to higher heights in their independent careers. Once the platform goes live, James hopes to leverage his industry connections and put together an active talent pool, a new platform for creative talents that is set to revolutionize creative work.
