The first thing you should look for is whether the electrician is licensed. A license assures you that the contractor is deservedly an expert, and has gone through the relevant courses and practice to enable them to perform the job safely and in the right way. Always ask to be shown the license, as the first thing, and verify if it’s current, and if possible, conduct an online check. Ensure the license they hold covers the type of work you’re hiring for. Some electrical licenses usually have restrictions. Another thing you must check is whether the electrician has all the relevant insurances. Ask to be show copies of current policies and verify to make sure they’re not expired.

The Value For Money

It’s wise to ask for at least 3 quotes, but if you get more, the better. Every time make sure you give all the information related to the job, in terms of the materials and fittings you would like to use. Ensure the electrician offers you a quote that has all the prices broken down, and this way you can easily compare one quote with another. However, picking an electrical contractor based on price alone may not be the best idea although it’s a key thing to consider.

Experience and Qualifications

Electricians are different, a lot of them have additional qualifications in different areas related to electrical work, whereas some may have accreditations. When you pick a Master Electrician you’re guaranteed that they have at least 3 years of experience and must give a warranty on workmanship, whose validity should be 12 months. Working with a Master Electrician ensures you get top standards of workmanship and safety in your electrical project. Noting the hiking cost of electricity, energy efficiency will probably an area of concern. There are various organizations giving accreditation in energy efficiency. An electrician who has such accreditation should have vast knowledge about energy-saving products and technology.

Recommendations from Others

A recommendation from someone you trust can be useful when you’re choosing a person whose services you need. Knowing that they had a good experience with a certain electrician, and were satisfied with the services is enough assurance for you. If you’re unable to get a recommendation, you can ask the electrician if they have references. Try as much as possible to call and hear from the referee to make sure they’re genuine.

Communication and Attitude

No one would like to work with someone with a bad attitude and sloppy workmanship. Observe if they come for the quote on time, or if they were tied up, did they call in advance and inform you that they would delay? Do they make communications with you? You need to make sure that you understand each other so that the project flows smoothly without any miscommunication. The appearance and attitude of a good professional can be seen in the quality of work they do.
