We’ve all heard about it… the thing on the tip of everyone’s tongue. The latest trend in modern culture, OnlyFans.
OnlyFans has quickly become the COVID survivors income stream of choice… well, if you’re a cute girl anyway. Models are making thousands every month selling nudes, exclusive pictures, and sexting with their fans. With hundreds of models paying bills and making six figures from the platform it’s become a genuine career for many.
But what does it really take to be successful on OnlyFans? We interviewed 15 OnlyFans creators who all make thousands per month to get their top tips. Here’s what we learnt:
Content
First, it’s all about content. We’ve all heard it before – content is king. You need to be posting every day. That includes Story’s too. This is important because you need a balance of posting to sales content to drive OnlyFans traffic from your social media to actual content. From the advice the girls gave us, you should ideally aim to post everyday and you can start uploading OnlyFans sales content every couple of days too. Can’t afford a professional photoshoot? Don’t worry! Just whip out your iphone and get creative.
To make sure you’re posting everyday there’s a lot of things you can do. The simplest is just to create a content calendar schedule. This can be a pad in your room or a tool like Hootsuite or Later to organize and publish posts.
OnlyFans Strategy
Make sure your bio is fully optimized. Tell fans what they can expect from your account and include a header image that will get guys to want to subscribe to you. A Lot of girls are split on whether or not to offer a free following account, but from what we’ve heard it makes sense! By offering a free account you can focus on selling PPV’s and using OnlyFans as your own personal sex line. However, by charging you could be making an easy couple of hundred or thousand every month! So think carefully when deciding.
When posting content be sure to post daily! Have a good mix of video and photo and sprinkle in some audio! From what we learn in our interviews 10/15 girls find this works well especially if you want to casually announce things like giveaways and contests. This also goes for when you’re posting mass messages daily to your fans on platforms like OnlyFans. This helps fans know that you are really you, and shows value in them subscribing.
This brings us on to the contests. Use contests to get people excited about your sales! By using fun games you can really help drive more sales, traffic and hype.
The most important advice given was to focus on your tips and custom requests. The highest earning models use teams that provide 24 hour service where teams manage DM’s for girls. This involves using other people to message on your behalf to get them to tip. This one’s risky. Some girls use these services and have made a ton of money, while others have completely burnt their fan base with them realizing they use these services. Either way, be careful with trusting any 3rd party providers, you can never fully control the outcome or quality. Many girls also warned that though they have not had a bad experience yet with providers like this, many knew of other girls in their circles who have.
One common strategy has also been to go live on OnlyFans. Only 8 out of the 15 models we interviewed had done this but those that did said it really worked well!
Social Media
Social media is the most important tool for all OnlyFans creators. This is how you’ll be driving most of your traffic so it’s important you get it right. From our interviews we learnt that Twitter and Instagram were the biggest drivers for the top earning girls, with many also now using TikTok. The consensus is to focus on collaborations with other influencers as much as possible across platforms from shoutouts to more.
The second biggest and most often cited advice has been to make sure you engage back with your fans and show them attention back. Gone have the days where having a million followers was what everyone cared about. The fake klout hype has disappeared and there’s now a much bigger focus on 1:1 relationships with followers. All of the girls we spoke to said that to be successful you need to focus on showing daily love to your fans, and if you can’t do it hire a virtual assistant or team to help. 3 of the girls interviewed used a service called FansMgmt that has teams of people to talk to fans on your behalf for you everyday on OnlyFans specifically.
Then for your TikTok, Snap, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook comments you can also use a wide variety of software, tools or services. From solutions like Fiverr if you want the Human touch, to software like Direct Heroes, InstaZood, Instavast or more for your Instagram. If your audience is more active on Facebook, you can use other chat bot systems like Chatfuel or Manychat or Facebook chatbots. Depending on the level of engagement you get there’s a solution for everything! Ultimately though the advice is don’t use software if you don’t have to, try and stick to the personal touch as much as you can while you grow.
This means replying to your comments and DM’s so guys don’t get stop doing it! After a while and after followers have commented 10+ times and DM’d you dozens of times and got no response or interaction back, they’ll stop caring! They’ll go to another model who rewards them for their engagement with attention back to them. The best way to summarize this came from this quote: “People are taking the time to contact you and compliment you, so it’s only decent to show them some love back!”
It should also come as no surprise too that the use of dating platforms like Tinder, Hinge and Bumble are widely used to lure new OnlyFans subscribers. Most of the girls we spoke to didn’t advocate doing this, but everyone had admitted to using these sorts of services! If you want to use dating profile growth services the best recommended way to do it was using Fiverr to find someone with a lot of reviews.
One of the next most important bits of feedback we got was to make sure to be prepared if Instagram or any of your social media every gets deleted! How can you do this? Get your followers to follow you everywhere! On every platform, get their phone numbers, get their emails, get their LinkedIn, get their Snapchat, get every possible way you can to reach them and secure them on those platforms. This way you will always have a way to reach your fans.
Another surprise was learning the use of Reddit. Many models cited using services like Fiverr to source services for Reddit promotion. Here teams post your profiles in popular subreddits for models to help drive growth to you.
For growth strategies and ways to make sure you’re always growing a new audience on all your socials you should be doing a few things, this ranges from the obvious shoutout exchanges to things like influencer marketing, (paying pages and girls to give you shoutouts).
Personal branding is also extremely important to help you stand out. This ranges from having a unique look in your Instagram aesthetic. You can plan your Instagram aesthetic with tools like Hootsuite too.
When it comes to what to post, every model unanimously said one thing — don’t post quotes. No matter what social platform you’re posting on you should always be trying to engage your fans by giving them reasons to comment. From asking them how their day is going to getting them to drop their favorite emoji.
Conclusion
Over the course of all 15 interviews we learnt a lot. There are hundreds of strategies and tactics that are all powerful in their own ways. There is not any one winning strategy or magic formula to OnlyFans success, but focusing on your content, growth strategies, fan appreciation strategies and sales strategies together can significantly increase your odds of being in the top 0.1%
