The Ultimate Test
In 2023, at the precipice of a potential $300 million exit from his behavioral health company, Rutherford faced his greatest challenge yet. What seemed like simple fatigue turned into a life-threatening case of endocarditis, leading to a month-long coma. “I actually died,” Rutherford states matter-of-factly. “When I woke up, I realized that despite all my accomplishments, I hadn’t helped enough people along the way.”

This near-death experience transformed his approach to business and life. While maintaining his sharp business acumen, his focus shifted to creating meaningful impact through his rehabilitation centers, which have helped thousands reclaim their lives from addiction.
