It is surreal to learn about all those people who, instead of blindly following the paths already trodden by other established names across fields, carve their unique success all on their own. This has allowed a few of them to create inspirational success stories that have impacted and motivated other budding talents to believe in their passion and abilities and follow their dreams. Matthew Miller is an inspiration who has risen to the top as a one-of-a-kind theme park technologist, designing a rollercoaster life journey with a thrilling success story.

Matthew Miller is currently the Senior Director of Technology & Business Development at Orlando Informer. He oversees the company’s strategic technological innovation and business partnerships, which have helped Orlando Informer grow into a thriving global community of theme park fans. Speaking on his dream to be in the theme park industry, he says how, from a very young age, he felt inclined towards everything creative and unconventional. This motivated him to pursue his passion and work relentlessly towards achieving his dreams of becoming a roller-coaster designer. Though challenges were a part of his game, he was definite of the success he wished to achieve.

He eventually landed his dream job and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. Having worked as a theme park technologist for nearly two decades, Matthew has helped create experiences for both Disney Imagineering and Universal Creative.

Spending several years with Universal Destinations & Experiences, he helped develop attractions for the theme parks in Orlando, Hollywood, Beijing, and Osaka. He worked worldwide on the project team of iconic attractions such as Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and most recently, Super Nintendo World – which has been announced for Universal’s newest upcoming theme park, Epic Universe.

However, Matthew doesn’t come from a family of previous theme park executives. He dreamed of becoming a rollercoaster designer in the 1st grade, but as he grew up, he did not know how to go about it or how to reach guaranteed success. For this, he started by going to theme parks and recording special effects on film, he then tried to replicate them in his college dorm. He didn’t have a budget or space for this work, but his ingenuity bled through just by trying to build these effects at school.

Later, while exploring potential career opportunities, Matthew Miller found ways to invite himself into industry projects, which helped him learn even more and perfect his craft. This eventually led him to become a professional of his dreams, a theme park technologist wanting to make a positive difference in people’s lives by enriching their theme park and entertainment experiences.

His work and journey so far have earned him innumerable recognitions and accolades, like being granted a patent for his research and development of interactive wearable technologies for the parks (Patent: US20210383644A1). Many of the theme parks carry his work, which has delivered incredible experiences to people.

Matthew Miller now continues to live out his dream career while also showing the path to other up-and-comers in the industry, making them believe that anything is possible. As a world-class speaker and coach, he now shares his message at major universities all across America, working to impact lives positively and show students that truly anything is possible!
