In the history of our great nation, we have witnessed revolutionary advancements that have dictated the paradigm of law enforcement and how people live their lives. Similarly, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) has been pivotal in reshaping America’s future. However, with time and changes in leadership, the organization’s integrity has been misconstrued and, more so, tarnished. There is confusion and misdemeanor in an agency that was built upon the values of fidelity, bravery, and integrity.

There is one man who is blowing the whistle on it all. A man of fortitude and conviction; who isn’t afraid to call out injustice and spearhead projects for the greater good of our nation.

Let’s delve deep inside the mind of Jack Levine and his prolific book, A Chapter in the History of the F.B.I.

Conflict Birthed Reform

A Chapter in the History of the F.B.I. is set to create a seismic impact in the industry, as Jack offers audiences compelling insights on how to improve the law enforcement system, criticizing the norms and policies set by J. Edgar Hoover; that’s right, the man who was the first and former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Jack’s book narrates his origins in association with Hoover starting with a job interview for a lawyer position in the Justice Department’s Organized Crime division, which, at the time, had been created by Robert F. Kennedy. Jack had resigned from the F.B.I., where he had been a special agent under Hoover.

But why did he resign from a position most agents would have given anything for? His resignation after only 11 months of service was primarily due to his distaste for Hoover’s policies which Jack thought posed obstacles to the work of Bureau’s agents in fighting crime and subversion.

His interview with the Justice Department lasted for two hours. It started with Ed Silberling, the Organized Crime Section Chief. As the meeting progressed, Jack revealed his experience as a Bureau Agent to every high-level official in the Justice Department, except for the Attorney General.

After listening to Levine’s insights, the Assistant Attorney General asked him to prepare a detailed report about everything he had discussed in the interview.

The compilation of the report became the basis and much of the content in the book.

Inside the Mind

Jack Levine is an inspiration for those who wish to change a world that is corrupt from the core. He is a role model for people who say “No,” to conformity but lack the courage to stand up for what they believe in.

J. Edgar Hoover is one of the most influential individuals who have walked our nation’s soil. For almost half a century, he was the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and had a controversial reputation. Hoover was admired for his ground-breaking work on the F.B.I. and for making it the organization it is today. On the other hand, he was criticized for taking credit, abusing power, and failing to protect the nation from organized crime. Hoover had a long regime and served under many Presidents. Needless to say, he was a man of power and influence. Whereas Jack Levine embodies fidelity, bravery, and integrity, the three fundamentals at the foundation of the F.B.I., which, at that time, the organization failed to uphold.

Proof in Persistence

Jack Levine is persistent in his efforts to expose public corruption and wrongdoing by those who have attempted to profit at the expense of the public. We are often daunted when confronting people of authority. Because of this fear, we are left vulnerable, prone to exploitation. Reform only begins when one stands up and calls out wrongdoing, regardless of who is doing it.

That being said, in the pursuit of truth and justice, we must keep our integrity. Jack never intended to call out and challenge Hoover out of disrespect. Instead, he criticized his policies, resulting in the desire for reform. He wasn’t afraid to voice his opinion; he knew he had something better to offer and wanted the world to hear the truth.

His interaction with Hoover symbolizes the need for healthy discourse and argument. Not every conflict and difference of opinion should end up ugly, which people often lose sight of. Taking things personally disrupts the efforts made for the greater good.

The endgame should be changed for the better.

Jack has also revealed that his desire to inspire others was the catalyst to him being an author. His book has set off a chain reaction among people, the young and experienced, in having meaningful conversations about the state of law enforcement in America, which is the basis of our national security.

A Chapter in the History of the F.B.I. has become an essential chapter in the developmental history of a nation that needs a change; in both mindset and policy.

Read through the riveting insights of a man on a mission; witness the truths behind one of the most respected organizations in America. A Chapter in the History of the F.B.I. – coming soon!
