Reasons You’re Losing Instagram Followers and How to Fix It

These days, many people are raising the concern that their Instagram suddenly starts losing followers. It is hard to gather followers for Instagram free, and when you start losing the followers you spend a lot of time and effort getting, you may feel discouraged. However, you need not worry because, in this article, we will discuss what are the reasons behind your follower’s loss and how you can get away from it.

Paid-For Followers

Some people on Instagram use paid followers to build up their profiles. The problem with paid followers is that you can get shadowbanned by Instagram. Also, when you buy paid followers, after some time passes, these followers can start unfollowing you, and you see a decrease in followers.

Follow-For-Follow Schemes

Follow-for-follow schemes are also not good for growing your Instagram profile. You follow people so that they follow you back, but there is no guarantee that they will keep following you. Most people unfollow you after a month or so.

Confusing Brand Image

You need to have a brand image that is consistent and relevant to your audience while using Instagram. You cannot just post about one thing for one month and change it altogether to something else. When your brand image keeps changing, people also move on and unfollow your account because now they are not getting what they wanted or liked before.

Low Engagement

Low engagement on your account can also cause you to lose followers. If you are not engaging with your followers and they are not commenting or liking your posts they eventually unfollow the accounts.

Inconsistent Posting Schedule

You have to post consistently on Instagram if you want to retain and eventually grow your followers. If you stop posting for a few weeks then your followers will move on to other accounts for the info they need.

Too Much Promotional Content

We know that people use social media a lot for business and selling their services or products. But the real purpose of social media is to connect with others and share their life moments that they enjoy. If people see a lot of promotional content on your profile where every time they go to your profile they see your services ads they are more likely to unfollow you.

Deletion of Fake Accounts

Like other social media platforms, Instagram also has a lot of fake profiles. Instagram also has an estimated 95 million fake accounts. Sometimes your account is also being followed by these fake profiles. So, every time these fake accounts get deleted, you can lose Instagram followers because of that.

In conclusion, losing followers on Instagram has become a concern for many users. Strategies like paid-for followers and follow-for-follow schemes can lead to problems like shadowbanning and unfollowing. Maintaining a consistent brand image, engaging with followers, and avoiding excessive promotional content is essential for retaining a loyal audience. Additionally, the deletion of fake accounts can also contribute to a decline in follower count. To sustain and grow a healthy following, users should focus on authenticity, engagement, and consistent posting.
